Helen Mirren, birth name Illiana Lydia Vasilievna Mironova was born on July 26, 1945 in Chiswick, London, England. Helen is the daughter of an English mother and her father was a Russian aristocrat stranded in London.
Helen joined the 'National Youth Theatre' at the age of eighteen, where she played her first role in 'Cleopatra' in Shakespeare's Anthony and Cleopatra in year 1965 at the Old Vi. This led to her joining the Royal Shakespeare Company in year 1967.
Helen acted in a wide range of movies and plays, appearing opposite such notable names as Laurence Olivier, Malcolm McDowell, and Ian Holm.
In 1980s Helen played memorable roles in The Long Good Friday (1980), Excalibur (1981), The Mosquito Coast (1986) and Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover (1989).
Helen is a sophisticated star of stage and screen who became an international television star as 'Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison' in the British series "Prime Suspect".
Glamour actress, Helen acted as three British queens in different films and television series. These include 'Elizabeth I' in the television series Elizabeth I (2005), 'Elizabeth II' in the film "The Queen" (2006), and ‘Queen Charlotte’, the wife of George III, in "The Madness of King George" (1994).
