Bingo has been around for a long time and for years it was the game played mainly by retirees in local halls. It was a fun game with the added benefit of social contacts. Older folk could get out of the house for a few hours, play bingo and chat with their friends and neighbors.

Then along came the internet and online bingo was born. This meant a whole new change to the game. Anyone could play anywhere. So people were playing the same game while living in different towns or states or even different countries. It was simple to play. You download the bingo card from a web site and then log on and play. There were still prizes to be won in many of the games and that little chat players used to have in local halls was still possible because players could exchange emails online.

But bingo still had further growth patterns to come and one of those is to use buzzwords rather than numbers. This form of the game is hugely popular with clubs and businesses inventing their own buzzwords which relate to a particular theme.

And speaking of themes, bingo games can now be played with the theme of Halloween. This is an ancient celebration which began with religious overtures – Halloween is the eve of All Saints’ Day – but which today is a secular event with bonfires, trick or treat, magic lanterns and the like. It came to the United States with the Irish immigrants who fled the famine in their land.

So now comes a new version of a bingo game, that of playing Halloween Bingo. Once again the basic rules are the same with the players having a card and having to mark the word called by the caller with the winner having the correct line of marked words.

You can buy Halloween bingo cards from certain magic shops or download them from various web sites. You can even make your own. The words on the cards are all to do with Halloween. The person calling the names can dress in Halloween costume and have the words, not in a barrel of box but in a pumpkin such as a Jack-o-lantern. It’s all part of the fun.

There are many advantages to this type of bingo game. First it means young kids can play. Anyone can play and families can have a lot of fun playing together. The reading benefits for young children are another obvious benefit. A Halloween bingo game is a new way to celebrate the occasion. The game can be easy to win by crossing off only a few words or it can be difficult requiring a great deal of language. Running time of a Halloween bingo game can range from a few minutes to an hour or more.

Kids love the spooky element of Halloween and any new way to celebrate the time is a great idea. Try Halloween bingo and give everyone a fun time together.
