What is a musical synthesizer? A musical synthesizer has revolutionized the world of sound. Before, a performer who wanted to recreate a certain sounds used to rely to old fashioned instrument. But today, all you need is to touch a button from musical synthesizer. A synthesizer is known for producing different kinds of sounds that every musician wants to hear and most of all wants to produce. In fact, people of United States most often own one. It is a compact keyboard and affordable and easy to play with.  Synthesizer comes from “synthesizes” meaning sounds.

Synthesizer can produce thousands of different sounds as well as sound combination. In fact, a synthesizer can produce variety of multiple sounds. Actually almost everyone is already familiar with this instrument as well as its function and what it offers. But take note that not all keyboards are the same. Each keyboard has its own music to offer. Synthesizer has different models and brands. Each brand models are capable of producing variety of quality sounds.

However, a musical synthesizer has two categories. These are Analog synthesizer and Digital synthesizer.

1. Analog synthesizer. This type of synthesizer is capable of generating sounds electronically using analog computer. Analog computer operates using numbers that represented by measurable quantities. Today, this type of synthesizer is rarely used by the public. But I am sure there are individuals that use this synthesizer up to today.
2. Digital synthesizer. A digital synthesizer uses digital signal processing in order to make musical sounds. These electronic keyboards make variety of music through sound waves. Digital synthesizers today boast their onboard accessibility using switchable front panel controls. Let’s face it people buying this instrument wanted to discover its function. Every digital synthesizer is like a computer.

Early synthesizers are large and unwieldy and not suitable for transporting. However, today’s synthesizers are highly sophisticated and employ computer technology. In fact, today’s synthesizer contains a computer chips and motherboards. These instruments are compact and perform very well. Musicians of today also uses software synthesizer, also known as softsynth. This software is often used for studio recording.

One feature that being enjoyed by many musicians from modern keyboards is the ability to integrate and synchronize with other instruments. No wonder that this instrument is gaining its popularity each passing day. There are many synthesizer brands and models out in the market today. Korg, Roland, and Yamaha are some of those trusted brands.

As technology advances, this instrument will continue to evolve. Designs for this instrument are getting better and better and more efficient. Synthesizer sounds will surely improve in terms of quality. So, we better watch out for that. Music synthesizer is really a great instrument and will continue to amaze us as technology evolves.

Music synthesizers continue to make musicians and people happy with the sounds they were producing. Many musicians are being inspired by creating such lovely and romantic songs using this instrument. Can you imagine life without music? I am sure you won’t.
