Reality TV is all around us as that is what viewers seem to love. Plus, from a production point of view they are more affordable than paying actors and actresses unbelievable amounts of money to star in a production. Dancing has become a part of reality TV as well with many different types of programs.

While each of these reality TV programs offers a different spin on dancing, they all involve people competing against each other. Some of them are celebrities while others are unknown individuals that have decided they would like to take part in it. There are tons of people that choose to audition for dancing reality TV programs as well but they don’t make the final cuts.

Dancing with the Stars if the most popular of these reality TV shows, and the one that has been around the longest. This pairs up dancers and each week the compete. Their scores are calculated through both a judging panel and viewers calling it. Generally at least 250,000 calls per episode come in. Pairs of dancers are voted off and the winners are those that get the most votes to the end. It can be fun to cheer on your favorites as well as to see the types of dancing they are able to offer.

Another popular dancing reality TV show is called So you Think you can Dance. This one is really fun and it is in its six season of running now. Many viewers find it to be inspiring and they love to see all of the various dance moves that people bring to the show. They aren’t seeing the same stuff over and over again so the programming remains fresh even to those that have been watching it since it started.

Finalists get to dance on the show and then they are given feedback by the judges. Viewers also get to call in and vote for them. The overall winner each season walks away with $250,000. They also get a contract to help them promote their style of dancing with a tour that takes place across many popular cities.

Dance your Pants Off is said to be the most controversial dancing reality show out there. It is designed to help people lose weight while dancing. Some feel that this show is making fun of people that are overweight. However, the producers feel that it is a realistic approach to teaching people they can change their weight and they can get results through fun activities including dancing.

Through dancing and reality TV, some forms of dance are starting to get recognition again. They may have been around for a very long time but new life is being breathed into them thanks to such exposure. People are seeing that dancing can be a great way to lose weight and to have fun. With money being an issue for many people in today’s society looking for cost effective ways to enjoy an evening out can be hard. Dancing can offer a solution that people are very interested in.

If you haven’t taken the time to view any of these dancing reality TV shows you are missing out on some fun. They allow you to see older types of dancing, past trends, and even new moves that people will be showing off as new trends emerge. They also offer some terrific entertainment through an inside look at the training and struggles of those involved with the dancing.
