Some people are born knowing what they want to do in life.  Some want to fly in space and some are more than content greeting people as they come through the drive thru at a fast food restaurant.  Others, well others are born able to sell stuff to people and really enjoy doing it.  People like that end up being good at selling cars or insurance and a few of them decide to become loan officers.

How to become a loan officer is actually something that isn't hard to do so long as you are dedicated to the job that you perform.  A college degree isn't necessary for this type of job although it doesn't hurt when you go to climb higher and higher into the business field.

How to become a loan officer is something that starts with an interest in the business field in one way or the other.  Some will first start in the banking industry as a teller and work their way up from there.  Starting as a teller is a good way to become familiar with the smallest aspects of banking so that you know the loops without just being tossed in there.

From a teller you can work up to a customer service representative who will usually assist the loan officer in weeding out the people who are not going to be able to qualify for a loan.  This is a great assistance to the loan officer as it leaves the loan officer able to spend their time focusing on those who will be getting a loan through them.

The job of the loan officer is of course to make money for the institution that they work for and to do that they have to work to bring in business.  So by having the customer service representative weeding out the ones who don't supply business to the institution, it is making the job of the loan officer a lot easier.

When you decide that you want to learn how to become a loan officer you should know that there are several types of loans that a loan officer can handle.  Some prefer to start by handling automobile or some type of secured loan.  These loans take place quite often and so you will be pretty busy with these loans.  If you are one that doesn't like to have idle hands then this is a good place for you.  But if you want to work on something bigger there are always mortgage loans.

Mortgage loans are a big undertaking and require patience and understanding as the customers will be full of questions and be worried about whether or not they made the right decision.  If you want to be able to close the loan with them then you will have to help them through that.

If you want to know how to become a loan officer don't think that you have to run straight to some school for that knowledge.  You can learn how to become a loan officer through some of the very informative books that are now available.

Some of the books on how to become a loan officer are available at your local library but it would be best to go to a book store and buy the one that you feel comfortable with.  I suggest that because if you really like the book and want to learn from it then you should be able to add highlights and such and they don't like you to do that at the library.
