The Monogramming definition lends itself to its original purpose. It defines as a practical way of identifying personal belongings which has been swells in popularity throughout the years. According to the history, the first people that uses monogram are Romans and Greeks. Monogramming at that time was used as a royal signature and even on coins to identify high rulers. The use of monogramming continues until Middle Ages came where artisans used monogramming to sign their masterpieces. Then during Victorian period, high-class people adapted it for more personal use to symbolize their place in the society. However today, monograms are now seen on just about anything, in fact few items were only left that aren't monogram-able. 

With the increasing popularity of monograms, traditional monogramming etiquette is not quite influential or required in today's trend compared with the past. However, keeping in mind certain rules  of monogramming can be very helpful before applying or creating your own. Common formats include three letters representing the first, last and middle names. The placing should be the first initial is on the left, middle initial is on the right, and last initial is in the middle and should be larger type. But if the monograms printed in order of first, middle, and last name, the initials should be printed in the same  order and size. For married monograms, usually it include the wife's first name, the married last name and the husband's first name. The monogrammed initials should follow the same order as with the names setting as well. With some cases, a married monogram incorporated with maiden name and last name is possible as well. These are just examples of traditional monogramming practices, many cases today that requires other unique and playful format that are part of monogramming fun. 

We recognize a monogram as initials or a set of letters combined to make one symbol of identity. We often used it to personalize different things, from bags, shoes, clothes, towels and the like. In any occasion, monogrammed gifts simply amazing. Of course, it isn't a surprise that personalized wedding gifts, anniversary gifts, birthday gifts and Christmas gifts are everyone's favorite. Monogramming is one way to create personalized gifts, while others can be done by means of engraving. The idea of using monogramming in creating a personalized gift can make a special and one of a kind present to any receiver. The accent can be very traditional or edgy. The possibilities and potential of the designs however limit only for couples.
