Public Relations Defined

Public Relations, commonly called PR, is very simply the relationship between your business and the general public. PR is the way you serve your customer, the information you provide to them and any means you use to educate them about why they need your goods and/or services.

Online PR

As a subset of public relations, online PR is simply the relationship you build between your business and the public using online resources. There are myriad ways to perform online PR and get your business name known to the electronic, global community. Let's look at some powerful means of performing online PR.

Online Information

Today, every business needs to use online PR to provide readily accessible information to potential clients via the Internet. People turn to the Internet to locate firms that provide what they need in the marketplace. Once, directory assistance was used to locate businesses but today, the Internet is used to find these numbers and addresses quickly and easily, even in cities across the nation or around the world.

Online Commerce

Using online public relations allows a business to develop an online commerce presence as well. Whether you produce widgets or teach people how to quit smoking, your product or service is needed by people who are willing to conduct business via the Internet. Using effective personal relationship development can build this market share effectively.

Public Service

You can build PR by providing public service information online. If you sell widgets, you can include on your website the history of widgets, the process by which widgets are produced, 101 little know uses for widgets, and so on, that people can turn to for information and to learn about your product. School children will use this form of PR when preparing school reports and, when Mom or Dad talks about buying a widget, the children will tell them they know a great website that has widgets!

Contributing original, informative articles to Ezines, newsletters and other public information services provides a great means to build positive public relations.

Use the Power of Online PR

You can probably think of several means of building online PR power specifically for your company. By availing yourself of this powerful tool, you can develop a online presence that is highly respected by everyone who visits your company's website.
