Making A Resume - Your Life On Paper

An individual?s life is a concatenation of moments, experiences, hopes, regrets, memories and changes that along with accomplishments and failures make a person who they are. When said person is forced to summarize and reduce all these experiences so that they all fit neatly onto one page the task is decidedly not an easy one. Resum? in french is, in fact, a summary. A summary is a condensed form of something, where the substance, that which is most important, is unaltered yet presented in a precise and, most importantly, concise manner. Therefore, the most important aspects of a person?s life must then be determined and selected, articulated into sentences of medium length and written on paper. This is the process of making a resume.
Granted, when making a resum? a person is not writing an autobiography with details and the such, so it is not mandatory to recollect each and every past ocurrence that took place in the person?s life. However, it does require to bring to memory moments that assuredly helped pour the foundation of a person?s professional life, since when all is said and done that is what a resum? focuses on, making the process quite technical in fact. But still, it is not as easy as it sounds.
Graduating from high school, the place where, and the date when, a person was granted their Bachelor?s degree, where and when said person recieved a Masters Degree, a PhD or anything of the sort are all important turning points of life, as are influential all the companies they have worked for, the people they have served under and the duties and responsabilities they have rendered. It cannot be forgotten that this extremely edited version of oneself in a professional sense is written with the sole purpose to stand out from others when being perused by a human resources manager whose decision will determine whether an individual is discarded to form part of the ranks of the unemployed or suddenly finds him- or herself on a company?s payroll. All because of one?s life, in a nutshell.
