Many carwash owners who have been hiring illegal aliens for years are now worried of the impending labor shortage as the illegal immigration dries up. This is not to say that all the illegal aliens will be going back to Mexico, but rather they will not be able to work in such businesses as car washes, which are out in the open and under the public eye and scrutiny of their communities.

What will the carwash industry do? Well, many carwash equipment manufacturers are already creating robotic carwash equipment to handle the problem. They are designing self-paying systems that look like ATM machines for the customer and completely 100% robotic touch-less carwash systems and tunnel washes. At the 2006 International Carwash Association Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada it was evident that this is where the industry is going.

The problem with hiring undocumented workers or those who pretend to be documented with counterfeit paperwork is an issue, which currently plagues the carwash industry and very much upsets many other customers. Many carwash consumers will boycott car washes if they believe that they hire illegal aliens, whether are not they actually do. Carwash customers often admit that they cannot know if the people that are working who do not speak English are American citizens or not.

This is why many carwash executives and carwash owners believe that the future of robotic car-washing is inevitable. And those who manage carwashes realize that there is a shrinking labor pool. If a carwash cannot get the labor they need they cannot stay in business and do the lines of cars which are out front ready to be washed. Please consider all this in 2006.
