With the rise in population, this world has become smaller. Technology such as the Internet, telephones, televisions, satellite, radio, mail and modern transportation make the world seem even smaller. When we talk about resources and economics, the whole World is shifting to a global economy and this change seems unstoppable.

When we analyze this picture, we begin to see the World as if it is one big country. At least that is the way I am beginning to see it. On the topic of national pride, the world seems too small for it. Maybe thousands of years ago when kingdoms were so far split from each other, national pride would have been OK. But now, we the people of the World take up much more space and resources. Many countries are realizing that self sufficiency is not realistic like it was in the past.

Many people believe that national, ethnic, or territorial pride brings unity. I believe it only brings division to our humanity. An extreme of this pride is what brings racism. It is what brings War. National pride seems to be more common among individuals who never get out or have never lived in another country. Individuals who sit in front of TVs or newspapers while they are fed information and stereotypes of what other nations are like. National pride is a common characteristic in most nations around the world. And I'm not saying you have to have a TV to believe that your country and your race should always be dominant above others. It's fine to support each other on a local level, but why boast above others.

Since countries are ran by people, they should abide by the same common rules as people. Remember the Golden Rule, treat your neighbor as yourself? Today countries are like big businesses, they want to take out all their competition and take over. The governments of most countries are like that too. Many governments are paranoid that someone will take over so they begin building nuclear weapons to protect themselves from such an invasion. And off course you have those countries that try to bully the weaker neighbors and abroad. It is like the uneducated schoolyard full of kids who don't learn from history.

For these reasons I am not fan of any one country today. The perception that we need to have is International, a World wide perception. This will only bring the World to positive growth in unity, rather than robbing each other of resources. To top that off, I believe this World unity will come. Just read about it in the Bible, it says the World will eventually have one government. Since it will be a government, it will still be corrupt.

It's not the fact that we Internationals are eager to have one government, but we want to see "The People" of the world have better lives. Often government politics and bad relations with other countries hurt the general people most. I am talking about the people in this world who get hurt and have to live through Wars and poverty because the governments are playing power games.

NATIONAL PRIDE CAN LEAD TO PROBLEMS

Do you remember the days when a Genuine American car had that fresh American pride smell to it? That same pride is hurting the American car makers today because they did not go global soon enough! While European and Japanese car makers have been doing global business for many years, American car makers have waited till now to get on the ball. It is a bit late, and that’s why you see such a huge company as General Motors barely getting by. I would know, because I work for a huge company whose biggest clients are the Big Three American car makers, Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler. And my companies stock has gone down from $25 per share, to 25 cents per share in the last couple years. I was shocked when I heard some of the American public say, "its unfortunate American car makers are importing their parts from other countries, and you can't get a Real American car anymore even if you wanted to."

Come on people, a real American car? We live in a global economy now, wake up. I know you are proud of your country and trying to support it, but please be realistic and don't forget the other 6 Billion people who don't live in the U.S.

Nothing against America, I live here so I use it as an example. But I immigrated from one country to another and maybe that helped me have a more International friendly perception of the World. The advantage we have in America is all the immigrants. We don't even have to leave the country to meet people who came from all around the World. That’s great!

Try to have a perception of the World that has no country borders to divide people. A perception where people don't draw circles around their territories so no one can get in. This is an International perception.
