Now that All Saints Day is right in front of our doors and All Souls Day is fast approaching, flower shops and sidewalk flower vendors are now everywhere to be found in all parts of the Philippines selling flowers to Filipinos going to churches and cemeteries.
It has been customary for Filipinos to remember and offer offerings such as flowers to their departed loved ones when the 2nd of November comes. But not just the Filipinos, but all Christians all over the world.
All Souls' Day commemorates the faithful departed. Among Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Christians there are several All Souls' Days during the year. Most of these fall on Saturday, since it was on a Saturday that Jesus Christ lay in the Tomb, and are referred to as Soul Saturdays. Saturdays throughout the year are devoted to general prayer for the departed, unless some greater feast or saint's commemoration occurs.
Christians traditionally offer flowers to their departed loved ones or friends when All Souls Day arrives. Flowers in these times are on huge demand, especially those arranged in wreaths or in bouquets. When these days arrive, flowers can get a little too pricey, particularly in the Philippines.
Dangwa, a place in the Philippines, is most popular when it comes to selling the cheapest collection of flowers around. This place is made out of 40 or more flower shops, selling Philippine flower from various locations all over the country such as Baguio City, Davao City, Tagaytay City, Cotabato City and Laguna.
Dangwa usually gets its highest peak when seasons such as Valentines Day, Mother’s Day, All Saints Days, and on the month of December arrives. These seasons gets the whole place in an uproar because Filipinos all over Manila will come flocking in to buy their share of Philippine flower.
But because of the demand for these flowers, flower shops would have no choice but to raise its prices, even those flower shops in Dangwa.
Online flower shops or online gift shops are also popular when these seasons arrive. Such online shops include Express Regalo.
Express Regalo is one of the most popular online gift shops in the Philippines that provide a wide variety gift items from foods items, gift baskets, and appliances to foreign and Philippine flower.
All Saints Day and All Souls Day are the seasons in which Filipinos and all Christians around the world to commemorate the faithful departed and the known and unknown saints of heaven. Flowers are a way for them to express their loss and longing for their departed loved ones and to honor the known and unknown saints which is why flowers are very popular on this season.
