With baseball season upon us again, have you found your guy glued to the television set more often than you’d like to admit? Maybe you went out and bought the little black dress, you know, the one that would make even a monk do a double take, only to have your boyfriend cancel your romantic night out for an evening on the sofa watching the game? Instead of getting mad this season, here are a few tips to help you get your guy off the couch and back into your arms where he belongs.

Aphrodisiacs – we’ve all heard of them. Those delicious and tantalizing foods and scents that, with a just a nibble here or a dabble there, whet both your appetite and your desire. They’ve been used to boost libidos in both men and women for centuries. As far back as the first century AD, the Ancient Greeks documented foods thought to have sexual ‘powers’. Aphrodite herself was thought to have sprung forth from the sea in an oyster shell. Though scientists can show no concrete proof as to their effectiveness, thousands of couples have sworn by their intoxicating affects. So tonight, put on that black dress, give your man a call, and prepare a few of these sensual delights. Within no time, his eyes won’t see anything but you.

Peaches – A hot summer day and a ripe peach. What could be better? How about an even hotter romantic night feeding that ripe peach to your special someone? Choose only the freshest fruit. If the peach isn’t completely ripe, store it in a brown paper bag until it is. And no knives here – enjoy this tantalizing treat whole by feeding it to your partner. When the juice drips from his lips, you’ll just have to figure out some way to clean it up!

Pine Nuts – These little nuts are commonly found in pesto and on pasta. Since Roman times these tasty, crunchy treats have been used as aphrodisiacs. Try making a simple angel hair pasta topped with olive oil, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, lemon zest, and a handful of pine nuts. Twirl the pasta slowly and feed it to your lover for a sensual feast. Trust me – he’ll be begging for more.

Oysters – Ask 100 people to name an aphrodisiac and chances are most of them will tell you oysters. The most commonly known aphrodisiac food, oysters pack a powerful punch – at least that’s what couples say who swear by their amorous affect. Truly aphrodisiacs, oysters contain zinc. A lack of zinc is known to cause impotence, while increased amounts can boost progesterone levels. And oysters are packed with zinc. So ladies, if you want to make certain your man gets in the mood and stays there, you won’t want to skip this slippery delicacy.

Chocolate – It’s no secret that chocolate tastes good. In fact, as most women have known for centuries, chocolate can cure just about anything, from a bad day to a run-in with an ex-boyfriend. It’s also an aphrodisiac, causing a release of neurotransmitters into the brain that creates the same effect in the body as caffeine. So if you’re planning on (or hoping for) a long night, try feeding your lover some chocolate dipped strawberries, flourless chocolate souffl? cake, or a lusciously simple Ghiradelli truffle. You won’t have to worry about yawning tonight.

Wine – You may have guessed this one. Alcohol provides a relaxing effect, which reduces inhibitions while stimulating the senses. But the wine itself isn’t the only thing that makes this a popular aphrodisiac. The experience of wine ups its sexy factor by truckloads. Don’t just drink the wine, savor it. Feel the liquid on your lips and drink in the aroma and tantalizing color. But be careful – more than a few glasses of the bubbly and you’ll both be snoring before the final inning.

Bananas – No list would be complete without this popular and perfect fruit. The food of choice for shipwrecked island hoppers, bananas are the most palatable fruit around. Their phallic shape makes bananas a well-known aphrodisiac as well, as does the sensual practice of feeding it to your lover. To ensure he won’t be sneaking the remote to check-in on the latest score, try dipping the banana in chocolate for an even richer effect. Who could resist that?

Whatever your likings, foods can entice an evening. Use this list merely as a starting point. An aphrodisiac is something that heightens your sexuality. Anything you eat with your fingers or feed to one another becomes an instant aphrodisiac. If your man likes figs, have him break one open and feed it to you. Not a fruit fan? Try lighting a vanilla-scented candle and spoon-feed him Cr?me Brule. Whatever you decide, if he’s worth keeping around, your guy will love you for the effort. And if he doesn’t….remember you still have the little black dress and the sea is full of fish ready to appreciate you.
