The Great Communicator, Mr. Ed Bradley, Will be Missed
He did what he did with ease, confidence and grace. He made his guests feel comfortable yet asked the tough questions of them to give you and me excellence in journalism.
He was a wordsmith; an orator, an anchor and all who knew him and knew of him because of '60 Minutes' will remember him with endearing fondness. Mr. Bradley encapsulated first-rate journalism. His smile brightened a room and his concerns and compassion registered easily on his face.
I would have loved to meet him personally but never came close enough to gain this honour. I always looked forward to his news segments on '60 Minutes' and felt proud of his delivery and professionalism. He impacted my life more than I realized and since beginning to write, I had thought of him and wondered how he got started.
I was tickled to learn he grew up in Philadelphia because I lived outside of Philly, once upon a time. I came to his home town many years after his birth but I got a kick out of thinking he'd hung out in Center City just as I had. I was even more enamoured to discover he'd graduated from Cheney State since I know one of the past Presidents at Cheney State. I enjoyed what I deemed as a feeling of kinship with Mr. Bradley.
Mr. Bradley was held in high esteem and his reporting respected. He was diligent in his pursuit of journalistic excellence. Because of him, I am inspired to improve my writings.
Ed Bradley will be missed and admired forever. I am not one to watch much television but he had me tuned in on Sunday evenings. I can hear his voice in my head as he finishes yet another Emmy Award Winning groundbreaking news report. He won a total of 19 Emmy Awards! This accomplishment speaks for itself.
A Great American Journalist and Communicator has departed this life. Now he has more than a portion of sixty minutes to give his report; he has eternity.
I will miss you Mr. Bradley and work harder to feel your approval of my written work. I respected, admired and loved you that much.
