Although erectile dysfunction is hardly the most pleasant experience for a man, it is better to admit having it in order to identify the causes and start treatment.
Erectile dysfunction can be caused by many things – from excessive smoking and drinking to a serious medical condition. Erection starts with arousal, then the nervous system responds and sends more blood to the penis in order to get an erection. If somewhere in this chain there is an interruption, then erectile dysfunction occurs.
The cause is often psychological. Stress, fatigue, depression, negative feelings between the partners, and fear of sexual failure are common reasons for temporary or longer erectile dysfunction.
But the most frequent cause of erectile dysfunction is physical. Furthermore, it might be one of the first signs of a serious disease.
The list of diseases that affect erections is long, and some of the medical conditions include damage to nerves, arteries and the cardio-vascular system in general, diabetes, kidney disease, alcoholism, sclerosis, neurological diseases, etc. Surgery (especially prostate and bladder surgery for cancer) can damage the nerves and arteries in the penile area. Injuries to other organs (back, prostate, bladder, etc.) can also have an effect. As a whole, it is estimated that in about 70 percent of the erectile dysfunction cases, the cause is a disease of some sort.
Lifestyle (smoking, drinking, excessive weight, lack of physical activity) and side effects of drugs for other diseases also contribute to the causes of erectile dysfunction. Hormonal disorders (lack of testosterone) are another reason for erectile dysfunction.
So if you or your partner frequently experiences erectile dysfunction, and this does not change when psychological causes are removed, it is time to see a doctor who could more precisely identify the causes and prescribe treatment.

Contrary to the stereotypes that men primarily want sexual touching and women mostly want affectionate touching, both forms are equally important for enduring, satisfying relationships. Men and women alike crave non-sexual touching. - What might a good teacher say? - By: John Scott

Your standard of beauty is your lens to what is attractive or ugly. But it is also at your will to demolish and recreate it. "Make your own standard of beauty, and be free of what society expects you to like or dislike." - Sexual Magnetism: Pheromones - The Scent of Sex - By: Al Link
All this time you thought it was sculpted muscles, dazzling smiles and fast cars that were surefire babe magnets. Well have we got news for you. What really drives women wild are naturally occurring body chemicals called pheromones. Actually they work the same way to drive men wild, but the male and female pheromones are chemically different. - Hot Summer Sex: Touch, Touch, and More Touch - By: Al Link
It's summer, glorious summer and the heat in the air cranks up the heat in your groin. It seems that everywhere you look there's bared flesh - luscious flesh, firm flesh, tanned flesh. Flesh peeks out tantalizingly from the bottoms of buttock hugging short-shorts and spills provocatively over the top of breast caressing halter dresses. It calls to you from between tiny scraps of bikini "Touch me, kiss me, lick me, squeeze me." - Voluntary Ejaculation - By: Al Link
A few fortunate, and likely quite popular men, have learned to make ejaculation voluntary. This means they can last a long time and come when they want to. Most however ejaculate involuntarily-perhaps prematurely, that is, before they or their partner are ready for it. - Freeing the Female Orgasm - By: Al Link
Women's capacity for orgasm is awesome. They can come over and over again, and still be ready for more! This capacity seems almost limitless. They can experience clitoral orgasms, g-spot orgasms, vaginal orgasms, ejaculatory orgasms, blended orgasms, and not only one but multiples of any of these! They've even been blessed with a body part, the clitoris, whose only purpose is sexual pleasure. This may all seem a bit unfair to men who typically reach a precipice, fall over the edge, roll over and go to sleep! - Sacred Sex - A Path of Union, Celebration & Wholeness - By: Al Link
For many people the term "sacred sex" is somewhat of an oxymoron, a contradiction in terms. Suggesting that you can find your way to God through sexual activity has been a bit like suggesting you can eat your way to thin-ness...
