Steroid drug testing is the method of screening steroid in the body. It is a popular test that is performed in all major drug-testing programs. Most of the amateur and professional sports authorities have banned anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. They are sorted as schedule-III controlled substances in the United States. Steroid drug testing can detect over 20 different anabolic and masking agents. They are commonly used for distance running, bodybuilding and other athletes. Some athletes abuse anabolic steroids to enhance performance and improve their physical appearance. These drugs are available legally for treatment of patients, when the body produces low amount of testosterone. These drugs were also used to treat the AIDS patients and other body wasting diseases. However, steroid abuse can lead to serious health problems that may even cause to irreversible.

Drug testing is the method of testing the drug use of the students, which can be also considered as the method of its prevention. The steroid drug testing is a tool, which is used for deterring the athletes from illegal usage of steroids. The following are the some of the major reasons for testing the steroid drug usage:
• Steroid should not be used without the prescription. In its absence it could affect serious and adverse health issues.
• It can give an unfair advantage for the athletes over their competition and it could help to swindle the sports authority.
• Testing for steroid drug abuse can overwhelm their use among the students of higher school.
• Steroids are the drugs, which are used for providing the medical treatment for the patients who results in loss of lean muscle mass.
Therefore, the test can detect the illicit usage of the steroids without a prescription.
