From top models and fashionistas to high profile celebrities, everyone is sporting a pair of leather trousers this season. Having graced the catwalks of all the major designers, they have become the latest ‘must have’ fashion accessory, essential for the style conscious of you out there. Naughty, sexy and black are most definitely the keywords to keep in mind!

Indeed, from patent leather effect trousers to the real deal, they are selling like hotcakes on the high street, with some consignments having been snatched up by eager shoppers within hours of hitting the shelves.

Combining rock ‘n’ roll sexiness with bad girl gothic punk, they are definitely one of the more edgier items to appear on the fashion scene of late. However, dressed with the right accessories, there is no reason why most people can’t enjoy this new trend.

For those endowed with enviously perfect pins, they look fantastic when mixed with a pair of spiky high heels; the taller the better. Not only does this serve to accentuate the figure and elongate the legs, but stepping out in a pair of skin-tight leather trousers and mile high heels is a sure fire way to turn heads. To complement your overall outfit and to add some femininity, complete the look with a floaty blouse.

If you are conscious of your middle or thigh area, teaming them with an oversized top is a great way to stay in fashion, without committing a major faux pas! In fact, there are some beautiful patterned blouses to be found in the shops if you take the time to look around, meaning you will be right on trend. Add a large belt and some chunky jewellery to the mix and you’re set to go.

Another major fashion item at the moment is the checked shirt. When added to a pair of leather trousers and some funky trainers you can create an effective, yet understated look. This is great for those who are not so coordinated when it comes to the high heel, as well as being a brilliant daytime alternative.

However you decide to wear yours, there are a couple of rules to keep in mind. Firstly, black is back, so when out shopping for yours, whether they be patent leather or otherwise, make sure and opt for the more demure colours – no neons please!

And, whatever you do match them with, think plenty of black eyeliner. Indeed, regardless of your figure, or the rest of your outfit, black rimmed eyes look great on everyone. Don’t be afraid to experiment – after all, you’ve got to look the part.
