The AT&T Universal Card is designed for cardholders with very good credit who want the benefits of a platinum card.
The AT&T Universal Card can be used as both a credit card and a calling card, but those who choose to use it as a calling card may find the rates to be higher than those offered by other calling card services. On the positive side, the card provides two free calls to directory assistance per month and up to thirty minutes of free phone use per month, along with wireless phone loss and theft insurance.
There is no annual fee, and the introductory rate of 0% is good for balance transfers for the first year of membership. The APR for purchases is a variable rate of 11.57% with a minimum rate on cash advances of 19.99%. After the introductory period, there is a balance transfer fee of 3% with a minimum of $5 and maximum of $75. The cash advance fee is 3% with a minimum of $5 assessed.
The AT&T Universal Card has many benefits that are included with this and most other platinum cards. Some of the benefits included with this card include the following:
• Card doubles as a calling card
• No liability to cardholder for unauthorized transactions
• Online access to account information
• Solutions to identity theft
• Protection from fraud
• Year end financial statement is provided
• Travel accident insurance up to $1,000,000
• Assistance with lost luggage
• Insurance on car rental
• Emergency card and cash replacement
• Reporting of lost and stolen cards
• Medical and legal referral services
• Emergency assistance and travel related services
• Automatic payment of bills
This card will provide the greatest benefit to those who plan to take advantage of its calling card feature and those who plan to take advantage of the introductory rate on balance transfers as well as utilizing the other benefits that platinum membership has to offer.
