Email Fraud - How I Saved My Credit
The online world is rife with dangers to the uninformed. Keeping yourself and your credit health protected is a tough job. Having resources and being able to recognize the potential danger, however, can make a big difference.
- Don’t get phished: Phishing is a hacker scam that uses spam or pop-up ad messages to trick you into divulging your credit card or bank information. Phishers are also after Social Security numbers, passwords or any kind of personal information. With any one of these pieces of information it is surprisingly easy to obtain the rest. Everything looks on the up and up. You get an email from what looks like a reputable company which directs you to what looks like a reputable company’s website. It’s probably another example of email fraud. You are asked to update your information or you are told that your account has been hacked and told to click a link to correct the problem. If you click all that information goes straight to the hacker. Some of the most recent attacks have spoofed top companies like PayPal, Microsoft and Yahoo. Protect yourself by not opening emails that you don’t recognize the sender or providing personal data until you’ve checked the sight out.
- How to work from home: Think about getting up in the morning, eating breakfast, and spending the day with your family as you work from home. Tempting, right? There are many offers online and unfortunately most are scams. The scammers claim that no experience is necessary. That they have inside information. You will end up paying anywhere from $20 to several hundred dollars for a worthless kit that will not earn you a penny. There are other types but easy money offers are always scams. This type of scam is easily avoided by going to local employment agencies. They offer work at home jobs and everything is available for you to see.
- Get your credit repaired: These scams claim to be able to erase bad credit reports and send you hoax emails telling you that you qualify for loans, mortgages and unsecured credit cards. These scams are especially appealing today when so many are struggling with debt. They rarely deliver on their claim and usually make the problem worse in the long run. Some have even been know to suggest that you commit fraud by supplying a false social security number or other false information. There are many local credit repair agencies in your city. It’s much safer to use them then an online agency.
There are many other scams out there. Check out more ways to protect yourself at from email fraud @mycredithealth.com. Make sure before you open an email or click a link that you know exactly who you are dealing with and never give personal information online.
