Some old books are just …old. They are full of dusty, irrelevant ideas and written in an antiquated writing style that offers no appeal for the modern reader.

But some old books are just as alive today as when they were hot off the press. They are full of still-fresh ideas that are still useful and practical to the modern reader.

Napolean Hill’s 1937 classic Think And Grow Rich is such a book. It is packed with still-timely principles on success and wealth.

Hill’s insights began when he was a 25 year old business journalist assigned to interview the world’s richest man at the time, Andrew Carnagie.

Carnagie introduced Hill to his philosophy of how an average man could become wealthy and successful. Just as importantly, he introduced hill to some of the richest and most successful people in the world. Based on Carnagie’s introductions, Hill interviewed Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, John D. Rockefeller, F.W. Woolworth, and Presidents Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Howard Taft.

As a result of 20 years of study, Hill formulated 13 Steps to Riches. He was on of the first people to stress the importance of written goals and the power of belief.

Among the insights this classic can still offer us today are:

  • How to set goals that compel you to keep driving and persisting toward it until you succeed.

  • How to use visualization to make your goal real in your mind before you make it real in life.

  • How to develop self confidence through visualization.

  • How to build a network of people who help each other successfully reach their individual goals. (Hill calls this a “Master Mind Alliance.”)

  • How to unleash the power of your creative imagination to create the ideas you need to make your dreams come true.

  • The planning secrets that take your goal from a dream to a successful reality.

  • How to use the power of decision to develop complete mastery over procrastination.
It is said that Napolean Hill made more millionaires than any other human being. While that claim can never be proven, it is probably true that no single book has launched millionaire careers and ventures than Think And Grow Rich.

If you have never read Think And Grow Rich, you are in for a wonderful experience. If it’s been a long time, pick it up again. It still has the power to help our dreams come true.
