What is candida?
Candida albicans is a yeast overgrowth that starts in the intestines then spreads to other areas of the body. In a balanced intestinal state, the good bacteria, Acidophilus, in our gut would control the yeast but if there is improper balance, the yeast runs buckwild and out of control. The most common cause of an improper balance of good and bad bacteria in the intestinal tract is antibiotics. Antibiotics kill and destroy all bacteria– the harmful AND the friendly. The longer one is under an antibiotic regimen, the more this balance is disrupted. This is an open invitation for a yeast infection.
Who needs candida treatments?
Candida treatments are most common among women, but millions of men every year seek candida treatments for their conditions. Candida is often the root cause of a host of health problems that cause many number of misdiagnosed men and women to seek diabetes treatments, depression treatments, anxiety treatments, even cellulite treatments. However, these are often only symptoms of a much larger, underlying issue. Yeast is literally a beast that slowly destroys the body– masquerading as various diseases. About 80% of the American population has a yeast problem that they are unaware of. A candida treatment could save a lot of unnecessary treatments by simply cutting out the middleman and going directly to the source of the problem– yeast infection.
Dr. Carolyn Dean reports that yeast produces 180 different toxins in the body which are responsible for weight gain, headaches, insomnia, anxiety and depression, mood swings, and hormonal imbalance. Yeast is directly related to weight gain particularly in women. In an effort to dilute all the yeast toxins, the body retains fluid and saturates the tissues. This results in cellulite and puffiness. A candida treatment should be considered before a cellulite treatment or a trendy program to loose weight.
Candida and Autoimmune Disease
Our immune system is designed to form antibodies against viruses and toxins in our body. The way an autoimmune disease comes about is these antibodies inadvertently attack normal body tissues in the process of fighting the yeast toxins. The yeast toxins saturate and hide in these tissues causing them to get caught in the crossfire, so to speak. This sets the stage for a host of autoimmune deficiencies such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc.
Candida Treatments Are Not A One-Shot Deal
A candida treatment is a regimen that must be followed and maintained to be effective. Don’t expect candida treatments to mean popping a couple of pills and being cured. It’s not like that. As long as there is an acidic environment in the body for the yeast to thrive on, it sticks around like an unwanted houseguest. The best adjunct to a candida treatment is a dietary change- one that excludes all the yeast favorites such as a high carb diet, sugar, white flour, alcohol, wheat, and all dairy products. If you want to get rid of a yeast infection, you stop feeding it!
The most effective candida treatments employ a holistic approach to alleviating the condition. For additional information on candida treatments, Dr. Carolyn Dean is an excellent source on the subject, along with the website http://www.yeastconnection.com/ The website provides a questionnaire to help you determine if you may have a yeast problem and need a candida treatment.
