Personal grooming has progressed to become a leading source of income for those affiliated with the cosmetic and hygiene industry. This is due to the increase of both men and women buying into various sectors like makeup, hair care and hair removal. Perhaps the most sought after of the three is hair removal. It’s become a past time among women and now men are growing in number as frequent users. Changes in society have led to higher standards in personal hygiene. The hair that was once considered natural and beautiful is now seen as a problem to be rid of.

When it comes to hair removal, the needs of men and women vary greatly. North American women have been partaking in hair removal for many decades already. Society’s requirements to portray the feminine appeal have had millions of women shaving their legs and armpits in order to project that image. Though it may have started out that way, it’s something many choose to continue in the name of cleanliness. When men began to push for further hair removal, including the nether regions, it seems that women pushed back. The past decade has seen more men join the ranks of the hairless than ever before. They have successfully proven that they can supply that which they demand.

Shaving has been the most common form of hair removal. It works quickly with little to no pain, provided that one does not slip with the razor. But it doesn’t offer the results that are preferred. Waxes, creams and a variety of other products have filtered into the market to cater to both men and women. A man’s hair removal needs tends to involve more upper body areas than a woman. A hairy chest was once considered a sign of manhood. Though it may still be by some, general consensus has them flocking to remove it. Smooth and glistening chests sported by wrestlers and actors have greatly influenced what is thought to be sexy.

One thing that both men and women seem to agree on surprisingly is the need for less hair in private regions. It was first attributed to women but has now grown to include men. Some may say it’s simply sexy while others insist it’s a cleanliness factor. Waxing tends to be the preferred method of hair removal for this area though it can take some time to get used to. Men have been taking it like troopers as they create a market that caters solely to them. Salon facilities designed for men only are sweeping the nations faster one might assume.

It may be odd to consider that the same process that helps a woman feel feminine might also cause a man to feel more masculine. The bottom line perhaps is simply that a clean hygiene routine including hair removal makes you feel excellent. Maintaining your appearance the way you feel comfortable is more important than conforming to society’s standards. Hair removal is a personal decision that varies among both women and men. The most important aspect is that you’re comfortable in your own skin.
