"When the sun shines they run and hide their heads, might as well be dead, when the sun shines"-The Beatles.

Seems so many of us spend the vast majoriy of our lives sun- deprived. We work or stay inside away from the sun and coat ourselves in chemical sunscreens to protect ourselves from the very source of life and health on this planet.

Sunny Outlook

It has been proven that vitamin D, created byex posure to the sun, is vital for a healthy nervous system. Without vitaimin D, our bodies won't absorb calcium. Other research bears out that osteoporpsis can be reversed by getting adequate sunlight. As we age, the body naturally loses bone density, but by adding vitamin D, we can rebuild our weakening bones and restore a healthy balance. Without vitamin D, our bodies lack the most powerful chemical compound known for preventing hormone-related cancers like breast and prostate cancer, since vitamin D is crucal in the regulation of cancer cell growth.

Here Comes The Sun

There's no trick to catching those wonderful vitamin D rays from the sun, we simply need to make it a healthy daily priority. It is important, however, to know your limits. As the old saying goes, 'Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun.' Be sure and do your sun worshiipping for 20 minutes a day around 10 am or 4pm and stay out just until you start to turn a little pink. This is safe sun exposure, and can make a difference in your health. Do not put on sunscreen, as it will slow down or even prevent the formation of vital vitamin D.

Eating a diet rich in natural and organic foods can also help fortify your body and deliver antioxidants which act as a natural sunscreen. If you can't get in the sun or live in a climate that is prohibitive, investigate the many benefits of cod liver or Krill oil, which is high in healthful vitamin D. Remember, green foods are a perfect source of vtamin D.

Let The Sun Shine In

Start thinking about ways you add more sunshine into your daily activities. A walk? Sitting in a sunny doorway? Closing your eyes and laying on the grass in the sun? Many people who suffer from depression have had their lives and moods dramaticaly altered simply by letting the sun shine in on a daily basis. Something as simple as a walk or brief moment sitting in the sunlight can literally improve your outlook on life. The sun is a natural, healing tool for stronger bones, cancer prevention and a "sunny" outlook on life. Let the sun shine in!
