Preventive Medicine
When I come across people with several medical conditions, I feel sorry that these people were not aware of what they could do to help themselves avoid such a situation in the first place. Sometimes there's a complex combination of conditions that one condition, as long as it is unresolved or unresponsive to treatment, prevents another serious condition from being addressed. This is because the life of the patient can be endangered if an attempt is made to resolve the second condition while the first is still unresolved. It really puts the patient and the doctor in a fix.
There is much that we can do to prevent or reverse negative conditions before they become too serious or cause too much harm all over the body. It is all a matter of responsibility. If we believe that our health is in our hands, we will do all that's necessary to first gather information and then apply what is most appropriate, within our means and safely, for our conditions.
The general public, however, assumes that they will remain healthy without putting any special effort. And if they get sick, they expect the medical doctor to offer some miraculous pill that will solve all their health problems. As we mature and learn of friends and relatives being struck with serious illnesses and dying earlier than they otherwise would, we know that this is not true all the time.
So you are healthy right now and do not have any medical problems - do you really need to do anything? Yes, given that we live in a world that is rather polluted not just in the air that we breathe but also through the food and drink that we consume, in addition to the stresses that we endure, it is a matter of time that a medical condition would appear. It is in everybody's best interest to learn as much as they can to preserve their current health.
In my opinion Preventive Medicine is a better insurance than any that the Insurance company can offer. Even though it may not be possible to be 100% covered in terms of disease prevention - we still have a much higher chance of remaining healthy for a much longer period if we take responsibility for our health. We still have to leave this world one day, but at least while we can, we should live as healthily as possible so that we can carry out our responsibilities effectively and hopefully make a positive difference while we are here.
There are loads of information at the libraries, bookstores and the Internet - many freely available if we'll take the time to explore. Even if you are not as enthusiastic as yours truly in the subject of Natural Health maintenance, at least study those medical conditions that have been encountered by family members. Knowing what causes these conditions and knowing how to prevent it can avert its happening to you. That's a lot of savings in terms of time, money, peace of mind, self-esteem and of course, health.
For those who are beset with a medical condition, set your mind to find a solution. Of course, in the meanwhile you would have to resort to Conventional Medicine - at the very least the drugs help maintain the condition from getting worse and creating more serious consequences, while you search for a safe but effective alternative. There are so many researches going on, such that if the answer is not found yet, it's bound to be known sometime in the future. Just keep researching.
At the same time, study and apply all that you can learn about Preventive Medicine. In the process itself, you may find that your medical condition actually begins to reverse. And what you'd be doing is mostly a change in the types and quality of food you consume, including exercise in your daily routine, and taking time out to de-stress yourself. Actually simple stuff in exchange for a better quality of life!
