Yes, there are side effects for almost every single medication that has ever been prescribed and the same is true with Viagra. Viagra blocks PDE5 which is an enzyme that breaks down cGMP while a man has an erection causing the penis to again become limp. The problem is that is also has an effect on the PDE6 which is used in certain cells within the retina. The end result is that some will suffer from issues with color vision; basically this means that colors such as blue and green might be altered or everything that they look at will have a blue hue to it. Another side effect and actually the most dangerous is the risk of having a heart attack. This possibility is the biggest factor in why you are unable to purchase Viagra over the counter. Rarely, a male will experience painful erections that last for a very long time and when this occurs a doctor should be seen.

It is very important to understand what Viagra is intended for.
