What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is the newest injectable filler in the category

of non-surgical facial contouring fillers. Radiesse provides an immediate and longer-lasting result than many of its predecessors.Some of the areas that Radiesse has been used to improve appearances are Smile Lines, Marionette lines, Cheek contouring, Chin Re-shaping, and Jaw Line contouring.

Radiesse material makeup

Radiesse is comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres. The CaHA compound has a long history as a biomaterial in the orthopedic, dentistry, and ophthalmology fields spanning over 2 decades of use. The advantage of this filler is its structural properties which help support the body’s natural collagen.

Length and details of the Radiesse injection procedure

The length of the procedure typically runs 15 minutes to 40 minutes per session. A topical numbing cream is applied to patients receiving lip Radiesse injections beforehand to minimize the little in the way of pain during the procedure.

Most patients typically do not require a general or local anesthetic for this procedure.

Most Radiesse injection procedures are typically outpatient.

Risks and/or complications related to Radiesse injections

Normal side effects include swelling or redness, which typically will subside within 24 hours of the procedures completion. Most of the common reactions are edema, swelling, pain, itching, discoloration, and tenderness at the treatment location. Patients should avoid aspirin regimens or other medications that could inhibit the healing process.

Most patients who receive a Radiesse injection may return to work immediately following injection.

The results of a Radiesse injection treatment are immediate in their visibility. While this alone would be attractive, there are many other advantages to choosing Radiesse injections. Radiesse has an added benefit of lasting over twice as long as similar products, such as collagen treatments. The duration of a Radiesse injection treatment varies between 12 to 18 months.

The cost of Radiesse treatment will depend on your individual needs. It will also very on your geographic location. The cost of Radiesse treatment typically runs $850.00 to $1200.00 per treatment.

Will my insurance cover a Radiesse procedure? Because a Radiesse injection is considered an elective procedure, insurance usually will not cover the procedure.
