Jump Start Metabolism
There are many factors which can cause your metabolism to slow down. Do you wish there are some ways that you can jump start your metabolism? When trying to lose weight, many people make the biggest mistake of choosing a low calorie or low carb diet that is too 'low', or deprive your body of any types of food in general. That will only cause your body to store calories as fats.
Your body needs calories for energy to carry out its daily functions, to do things like breathing, keeping your heart beating, not to mention movements like walking etc. When you go on a low calorie or low carb diet, your body detects that you are not getting enough calories and takes action to conserve whatever calories it can get. These calories are converted to fat and stored. This causes your metabolism to slow to a crawl.
While your body is still in this state, the moment you start eating normally again the higher intake of calories will all be stored as fats. Which is why you find that low calorie and low carb diets only work in the beginning, once your body switches to storing fats the weight loss slows down to a stop. That is when most of us get discouraged and give up, start eating normal levels of calories and carb and gain back any weight lost and more.
The way to get off to a good start of your weight loss journey is not to starve your body to begin with. Your metabolism is raised slightly when you eat, in anticipation of the work your body has to do to process the food. By eating 4-6 smaller meals instead of only 3 will help keep your metabolism high throughout the day. But what to eat for your meals?
Food choices are very important, eating the right type of foods can help boost your metabolism to speed up the fat burning that occurs in your body. The only way for weight loss to happen is when your body taps into the fats reserve stored in your body and starts using it for energy.
One thing to note, is that any amount of weight that you lose will cause your metabolism to slow down. The key is to find the right balance so that your metabolism does not slow down to a point where weight loss stops. It may sound complicated but it really isn't.
An effective method to maintain a high metabolism while you are losing weight is calorie shifting. By continually altering your calorie intake your body does not settle into a routine where it starts storing fats. This can help ensure that weight loss will continue as long as you want it to, until you reach your ideal weight.
