30th Anniversary: Party Ideas
The 30th Anniversary is traditionally celebrated with the gem of pearls or ivory and the flower of sweet peas. Wow! That combination can make it really quite difficult to come up with a functional party or gift idea. However, it really is not as totally hopeless as it first may appear. For example, the theme of pearls lend itself nicely to an ocean or sea related party theme. Consider how the clam takes a piece of sand and as a result of the irritation it feels, turns that piece of sand into an exquisite pearl. Is marriage really that much different of a concept? Two people start their life together and despite a great deal of love undergo difficult and often irritating experiences, and yet, after thirty years one has to see the value and wealth of the relationship – it has developed into a pearl. Consider throwing a beach party, or an under-the-sea, themed party to celebrate the couple’s accomplishment. You favorite on-line party supplier should have lots of great decorations and accessory ideas to help design the perfect party look.
For something a little less traditional or quirky, have a time capsule party. Invite your guests to come in costume from popular culture thirty years ago. Decorate based upon televisions shows, novels, movies, fashion or household design techniques that were popular thirty years ago (remember the bright orange everything?!?). Put together music CDs that reflect the top hits from all genres thirty years before making sure to put the anniversary couple’s own personal “song” in the mix. Consider laying out board games and other little discussion or play areas for guests to try as they relive their own life experiences and memories from thirty-years before as well. Invite everyone to share their own memories from the time period and of their various relationships with the couple via written thoughts in a guest book that the celebrating couple can look back upon time after time and remember the night’s festivities. This will be one 30th anniversary party that will stay with both the couple of honor and the guests for many years to come.
