Do you know someone who loves to cross stitch, but you aren't sure of what gift to buy him or her?  Don't worry.  Even if you don't know what supplies they already have, it's easy to get them a gift that they are sure to love.  Here are eight great gift suggestions for anyone who cross stitches.

1.    Kits.  Kits make great gifts because they include all the supplies you need to finish the project.  Kits range from simple to complex, small to large.  Some kits may take only hours to complete, while others will take weeks.

2.    Storage.  Some cross stitching supplies like fabric and thread are delicate and can easily be damaged if they are not properly stored.  Other supplies, such as needles and charms, can easily be lost or become hard to find.  For both these reasons, it is important to have proper storage.  Therefore, storage options like carrying bags and containers make great gifts.

3.    Fabric.  If you're going to buy fabric for a gift, don't buy just ordinary fabric.  Buy specialty fabrics that the person really loves or would really love to try out.  Specialty fabrics include fine linen, hand dyed fabric, afghans and more.  They really add an extra element to any cross stitching project to make it extraordinary.

4.    Specialty Floss.  If you are looking for a unique gift, why not try specialty floss?  There are three reasons why specialty floss is so popular.  One, the floss may be produced from a variety of materials, like bamboo and silk, which gives a unique texture to the floss.  Second, specialty floss is well known for its colour.  It can be hand dyed, multi-coloured or have different shades of the same colour.  Third, the floss may have a special effect to it, such as glow-in-the-dark or metallic.

5.    Needle Holder.  Probably most cross stitchers will confess to having lost a needle at some point in time.  The reason for this is that needles are thin, small and hard to see when they fall on the floor.  Therefore, needle holders are extremely useful and make a very practical gift.  Needle holders come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including small tube containers, pincushions or even magnets, so while they may be practical, they don't need to be boring!

6.    Gift Certificates.  Not sure of what they need?  Then buy a gift certificate.  They may be a classic, but that's because they work.  Gift certificates allow you the peace of mind knowing the person you gave it to can get exactly what he or she really wants.

7.    Frames.  All cross stitch projects need to be finished.  The most popular way to finish a project is to place it in a frame.  When buying a frame, try to keep it simple and buy a common size.  Keep the frame simple by choosing one with a solid colour, such as black, so that it can be used to frame most projects.  As well, the most common sizes of patterns are 4 by 6 inches or 8 by 10 inches.

8.    Beads and Charms.  You don't usually think of beads and charms when it comes to cross stitching.  But more and more, people are embellishing their fine cross stitch work with beads and small charms.  If you're looking for a small gift, then this is the way to go.  Simply buy an assortment of beads and charms and place them in small storage containers.  Place the container and beads in a small gift bag or wrap the container with a lovely bow and your gift is ready.
