Dora is one of the most popular Nick Jr. Characters, and fortunately, there are many online printable Dora theme party pictures and coloring pages. There are also plenty of Dora party items, like plates, party favors, cups, and games available at party specialty stores, online, or in department stores.

First consider the age of the birthday boy or girl, and formulate a guest list accordingly. The general age range for Dora birthday parties is from age two to six. Depending on the age, the guest list, and the appropriate activities will vary. A two-year-old will be happiest and most comfortable with a smaller crowd of familiar faces, a six-year-old may choose to invite her whole class or Sunday school class for the party as well as family members. The key is making the party appropriate for the age group.

Invitations should be sent, preferably with a map to the party location, specifying the exact date and time for the party. Include the exact time the party will begin and end, and whether or not transportation will be provided. If you plan to provide transportation, the guests should RSVP with directions to their home. Be sure to ask a few helpful adults or teenagers to assist you with party supervision, and everything should run smoothly.

Most local bakeries can scan a photo, and make a cake decorated from that photo. Just look around ahead of time for those and order early. You can even pick up the cake a couple of days early and freeze it to save time.

Dora Party Activities
Print a photo of Dora and several backpacks, and take them to be enlarged and laminated. The party goers can be blindfolded and pin the back pack on Dora (rather than the tail on the donkey) the one who pins it on the best gets to choose a prize from the Dora Prize backpack!

Each child can be given a graham cracker, and they can choose from squirt on icing and different sprinkles or chocolate chips to decorate the cookies, but have plenty of wet wipes available, and just allow the children to eat their masterpieces when they finish.

Dora Party Favors
Make backpacks for each child using purple felt, purple yarn to sew the pieces together with a large yarn needle. Hot glue on wiggly eyes and a piece of white felt for the mouth. These can be personalized with white craft paint, or simply filled with various party favors and given to each child before they leave the party.

Staying with the Mexican theme, you can provide each child with one of the prepackaged soft taco kits (the kind in the refrigerator section that come with a drink and do not have to be reheated) or make soft tacos at home. Just be sure to have plenty to drink, because children work hard at these parties, and get thirsty. With these simple hints and ideas, your child is bound to have the best Dora the Explorer Party imaginable, and all the guests are bound to leave happy!
