Fiesta Theme Party: Colorful Fun With a Mexican Flair!
Fiesta theme parties are easy and fun for all ages. The decorations should be bright, vivid colors, and it is easy to find party items like plates, cups, napkins and decorations in a wide variety of bright colors to mix and match. These can be found online (order early!) in party supply stores, or in department stores. It does pay to plan ahead, and send out invitations early, with a reminder a day or two before the party. Be sure everyone invited knows exactly where the party will be held, give directions if necessary, and when the party begins or ends, and make arrangements for the guests to be picked up and taken home ahead of time to avoid potential confusion.
Fiesta Party Menu
Prepared or home made cheese dip, salsa, tortilla chips, mini tacos, assemble-them-yourself soft tacos, with soft tortillas, taco meat, refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheese and lettuce in serving dishes set out on a picnic table. Print labels on your computer to cover cups, and serve Cactus juice made with lemon and lime packaged soft drinks, or bottled ginger ale with a few drops of green food coloring and/or lime sherbet. Most grocery store bakeries can make birthday cakes with a fiesta theme, but if you run into a problem finding one, you can always print a photo from your computer, and let the bakery use it to make decorations for the cake.
Fiesta Party Activities and Party Favors
Two crafty activities that turn into party favors that can be taken home are letting each party guest decorate maracas and plain sun visors. These can be found online or in party stores. They can be decorated with paint pens, sequins, glue, ribbon, ric-rac, etc.
Games for your fiesta party can include a bean and spoon relay, where the guests divide up into teams of two each. One player scoops up a bean on a large plastic spoon, goes down to their partner, and transfers the bean to their spoon; the one who successfully delivers the most beans in the least amount of time wins the game.
Lots of loud Latin music and a conga line are always a hit, and filled with laughter. Periodically, throughout the party, simply yell, “Conga” and everyone must join in the conga line.
Pi?atas are traditional for Fiesta parties, and they do not have to be filled with candy. You can opt to have them filled with pens, pencils, markers, pads, small toys, or stickers. Basically any items you think they will enjoy. You can purchase plain gift bags, and print chili peppers, sombreros, and other Mexican graphics on your computer, and glue them to the gift bags. Each guest will take their bag home with their goodies from the pi?ata and fiesta party craft activities.
