When you combine this desire with the advantages Internet marketing has over traditional marketing, its like dumping gasoline on a fire. Your desire for success keeps growing while overlooking the reasons you're not. To us the disadvantages of Internet marketing are just simply nuisances that we can't be bothered with. In reality knowing how to deal with these disadvantages is key to your success on the Internet.

Advantages

  • Huge earning potential.
  • Working alone allows you to be your own boss.
  • Internet marketing has the distinct advantage of knowing exactly what your target audience wants to buy. By utilizing search engine data, you can tailor your message to hit your customer's hot buttons, thereby increasing your chances for a sale.
  • Almost instantaneous traffic to your website with in 15-20 minutes using Google's Adwords PPC program. Traditional marketing in newspapers or magazines could take weeks or months just to see results.
  • Affiliate Internet marketing allows you to have no overhead or inventory because you are selling someone else's product or service.
Disadvantages

  • Internet marking, despite all of its advantages can drain your wallet very quickly. There is a huge learning curve trying to figure out what works and what doesn't.
  • If you don't know how to build a website you might have to hire a designer which could cost you a arm and a leg.
  • You don't know where to find products to sell, much less know how to market the profitable ones
  • You don't know where to find the right keywords to promote your products.
  • By working on you own you have no one else to rely on for support.
Turning Disadvantages Into Solutions

One of the biggest mistakes I made when I began Internet marketing was not taking advantage or participating in affiliate marketing forums. You can literally spend hours and hours learning from them. Just about every thing you need to know to become successful is hidden like a treasure chest waiting to be found. Some forums are better than others. Look for one who's members help the new guy or seasoned pro equally. The wealthy affiliate forum is a good example of this. Don't be shy; participate in forums as much as possible. The more helpful you are with your area of expertise the more willing someone else will help you.

One solution for your website problem is using a pre-made template site. Just do a search for "free web site template" on your favorite search engine. You'll wont' have any problem finding one. The next option is selling products with out a website. I probably should have included this in the Internet marketing advantages section but here it goes. You can promote someone else's products by directly linking to there website.

Clickbank products are an excellent example of this concept. There are over 10,000 products and services to promote. Once you've signed up for an account you can promote any of these websites by sending customers directly to the merchant. You get a special tracking url address that makes sure you get credit for all of your sales.

For keyword research and marketing research you can use a free service like the Overture suggestion tool. This is a good starting point with out spending money on keyword software.

In the beginning I asked the question are you one of those people, one who would probably fail. I did so as sort of a challenge.
