The enterprise resource management technology is budding at a rapid speed with professional business application demanding a highly scalable, reliable infrastructure that supports the open internet standards off of the shelf. The Web Application Server (WAS) serves for all purposes and delivers the scalability and performance. It supports the web technologies and open standards like HTTP, XML, and Java (J2EE).The SAP web application server is a podium for the efficient development and also allows the web searchers to execute web application. Business Server Pages (BSP)
SAP WAS enables the latest internet paradigms to be joined with the transactional operations of ERP. It also supports the growth and operation of the both J2EE and ABAP based web applications and services. The development of the application starts with the design of the environment which provides a set of tools to support different applications known as web applications builder. It is supportive for whole development and lifecycle of enterprise applications and let users to develop the new enterprise application known as BSP application. The core part of this application is acronym (BSP) and multipurpose internet mail extension object. The BSP concept is more similar to the ASP or JSP documents that contain HTML. The SAP WAS incorporates the conventional web technology with web DYNPRO for the appearance of the logic professional business web applications. Web Application Server Architecture
Sap integrates J2EE environment in to web application server to support the Java and ASAP in parallel with single server using the common database. SAP WAS consists of four functions
• Internet communication manager (ICM)
It is the independent process that is responsible for the communication between the WAS and the external supporters over intranets or internet using the customary protocols like HTTP and easy mail transfer protocol (SMTP).
• Business environment
It is fully responsible for the business content and the core logic of the enterprises which is published by the BSP/JSP. The ABAP atmosphere is based on the SAP application server development environment. The J2EE environment is of full featured, J2EE certified atmosphere to process the appeal to be passes from the ICM and then generates the response. It enables the Web application developers to make Web applications for business logic and presentation using standard Java or J2EE technology. The sap java connector will enable the method calls between Java and ABAP applications thus helping to meet the J2EE standard specification for incorporation of enterprise information systems i.e. J2EE Connector Architecture.
• Connectivity
The Web Application Server would support several open connectivity standards to put together third party products. At the end web application server provides the complete technical interoperability diagonally all SAP and third-party components. It also supports the simple object access protocol (SOAP) and XML-based protocol for exchanging information.
• Relational Database
The server uses the extensive reservoir to exchange the sensitive enterprise data. A set of Enterprise Application Integration tools are necessary, in order to arrange the successful web services.
