Creating the Perfect American
"He sees you when you're sleeping. He knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good. So be good for goodness' sake." The first deity the young American citizen is taught is an omniscient, jolly, fat man with long white hair and beard, living in no man's land. This god is presented as soon as a child is old enough to form a belief system. The object of this belief system is betrayal. Those who pretend to know what is best for us, make our very first god and belief system a lie we will discover in ten years or less.
So how did you feel when you first learned the truth about Satan's Claws, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Boogeyman? Ha ha, what a funny joke on me! I'll tell you how you felt. You just discovered all adults are lying assholes but you knew better than to say so. And how did you feel about the next god you were taught by these adult jerks? And now you want to kick my ass because I just brought back that first pain of discovery and betrayal.
Now see if you can recall when you first came under the care of someone beside a parent. Do you remember how important it was to obey this person, no matter how they treated you? Did they treat you like your parents? Did you consider all authority interchangeable yet?
So how did you feel about the next new god they presented you with, if any? Did you believe everything you heard? Why not? You now have an American foundation for adulthood. Doubt, confusion, betrayal and obedience in roughly equal portions.
In order to become a productive citizen on the great American plantation, you now required ten to twenty years of obedience training. Sunday school, scouting, personal hobbies, tell a vision and games would help round you out to be a productive worker or soldier for the state. You have had plenty of experience pledging oaths of obedience and loyalty and you are now ready to rock and roll.
You date - maybe, work, and nothing ever seems quite right or what you expected. Yet, it is clear to you, much is expected from you and by some of the most unlikely expectors. Somehow, there is a hole in your heart where Satan's Claws used to live and nothing fills it. The replacement god does not fill it. Your fiance does not fill it. Your work, your entertainment, your drugs. The drugs come closest but they are against the law. By now, you could not care less about that. You see law breakers everywhere you look. You have no idea what the real rules are and know the truth of little to nothing.
You have observed truth is of little importance to anyone you have ever known and if it mattered to anyone, you would have heard of them, sometime, somewhere. Hoping a mate and a child might fill that aching hole in your heart, you marry, shack up or become a single parent. No shortage of choices here. Minor bad things happening all around you. Major bad things happening in far away places shown on TV. You have a good attitude, but you are not happy. In fact, you are troubled and sometimes clinically depressed. Congratulations! You have become the perfect American.
As such, you will: Go along to get along. Do as you are told. Spend money on things you do not need and barely want. Compete with anyone who can goad you into it. Choose what you want to believe from only what is offered. Investigate nothing. Get ripped off by con artists and banks on a frequent and regular basis. You will pay good money in order to earn more and you will pay an ever increasing share of your labor to expand and maintain the great plantation. "You better not pout, you better not cry, you better not shout." And now you don't need anyone telling you why. You are the perfect American.

The latest television campaign ad in the Virginia Senate race features two of the primary election approaches engineered by Democratic strategists for this November's mid-term contest: attacking the President's judgment and competence and appealing to the patriotism and dedication to service of current and former military members. These two campaign tactics, along with a third, newer strategy that just emerged in recent weeks, form the core of Howard Dean's plan for winning back the House and Senate after twelve years of Republican control. The first part of the campaign strategy centers on attacking the Republican candidate, Senator George Allen, by framing him as "guilty through association" for his support of the President and his policies. - American Government's Chief Cornerstone and Indissoluble Bond - By: Paul Davis

In truth, I am more than a little surprised nuclear regime change has not yet happened in America. Whatever has prevented it is certainly not the Department of Homeland Security. Far more likely millions of sincere prayers for mercy on these miserable offenders have delayed what may be inevitable.
