Making the Decision to Cycle Across America

Many people have considered crossing the United States on a Bicycle and yet few actually ever do it in reality. Making the decision is only part of the equation, as you have to find the time also to do it. As I was making the decision to Go For It or Just Do It; someone asked me will you go on a permanent bike tour and have a Blog and explain all the places you go?
Well, actually it is funny you mention this I told them, as I thought about riding back and forth from the West Coast to the East Coast perhaps making it a 48 state ride. Touching every state at least briefly. Figure out the shortest route to do that and then set out on the adventure of a lifetime.
What is interesting is that I am a long-distance runner not a cyclist like Lance Armstrong, although now I see Lance Armstrong is training for the New York City Marathon, that to me is very impressive indeed. I would like to run across the United States on foot, but I figured it would take over 4-months to run it at 40-50 miles per day.
Biking, well it can be done in 3-4 weeks. So my friends convinced me to ride rather than run it, as they do not want me gone that long or worse to get hurt or injured. A bike ride across the US is easy compared to running it. Since I am also now a qualified writer, well maybe I will write a book about it afterwards, which would probably take about 10-days to write knowing me. Anyway that is the scoop and my story as to how I decided to go for it and cycle across the country. So, what is your story, have you decided yet?
