There aren't many people that don't like to take a vacation, and I happen to be one of them. Choosing a vacation, especially an active vaction is something that takes time and planning, but when planning your vacation you should make it a point to take your mountain bike along.

Some people plan an entire vacation around mountain biking. It's great exercise, and you truly get to be far away from your home surroundings while having the ability to take it all in while you are biking your way through a trip. It doesn't matter if you are going to an ocean getaway or to the mountains, a bike is always a good thing to bring along.

Last year my wife and I went to Lake Tahoe in August. The weather was beautiful, cool in the mornings and mild at night. It was perfect for taking our mountain bikes for a trip. Staying around the lake afforded us a fairly level ride while we had the chance to really take in nature at it's best. For a more strenuous ride we didn't have to look much further than our lake road. The mountains in Tahoe are some of the toughest and gave us quite a workout.

If you are going to go on a mountain bike trip you should start planning far in advance. Training smart and building your way up to a longer ride is important. If you try to take a bike out for a long trip when you are just starting out you will be sore and uncomfortable. Mountain biking vacations are something that can be very enjoyable and beautiful. Planning and training in advance will help you to be ready for the trip.

Mountain biking vacations are great fun for the family and individual alike. By choosing your destination and training well in advance you will give yourself and your family a vacation that you won't soon forget.
