NFL: Suicide Attempt Rumors of Player Denied
A police report indicated that the Dallas Cowboys receiver, Terrell Owens, had attempted to overdose on prescription pain killers. However the latter claimed very shortly that there was no suicide attempt.
The five-time National Football League Pro Bowl player has been hospitalized the night after rescue services and the police responded to an emergency call. According to the report he has mixed painkillers with nutritional supplements and become groggy. Owen blamed the confusion over his condition from an empty bottle found by his publicist, who was with him at the time.
According to the player the rest of the pills were in a drawer. He also blamed a combination of a pain killer with natural supplements for making him ill. But according to the rescue team Owen told them clearly he tried to commit suicide on the night it happened.
Owens, one of the National Football League's top receivers during his eleven-year career, is best known for wild stunts on the field and publicity seeking antics off it. Last year, he tried to renegotiate his contract with the Eagles. The club refused and broke out the contract in midseason. He signed later with the Cowboys as a free agent, but missed most of preseason training camp and three of four exhibition games because of a hamstring injury.

Football is all about timing. Not just the timing that is required between the offensive line and the running back, or between the safeties and linebackers on a blitz play, but also the timing of the coach to choose the right plays at the right time. The difference between success and failure rides upon play selection more than any other factor.
