If you can make friends with one person that works at a casino you visit often you should attempt to make friends with the casino host. Not only will this person be an excellent person to cue you into casino deals, but on average they will be able to save you hundreds of dollars. In all actuality it is the job of the host to create good relationships with loyal casino players in order to keep them coming back. One of the best reasons to befriend the casino host is because it is up to them to issue player comps. You have the ability to earn free food, hotel rooms, entertainment passes, and much more.

The casino hosts’ job is to report to the marketing executives of the casino. As you can imagine they are always looking for ways to pump new comps through to up business and keep their loyal players happy. In my experience, it is very easy to make friends with one of these individuals. Casino hosts seem to be great people. They are very friendly and always willing to help keep players happy. The worst case scenario is that you might not be eligible for a certain comp you want but in my experience if that does happen they always point me in the direction of another one that is suited for my level of play.

I always attempt to initiate a meeting with a casino host I do not know before I am even at the casino. When I call to book a room I will ask to speak to the casino host. I ask about the possibility of casino room rates. They might ask you what you play and you can fill them in about what games you will most likely indulge in. Generally, most casinos will allow you the option of the casino rate before you even play a game in their casino. The casino host is who will make this call which is why I like to introduce myself to them. As an added touch I like to get their first name and mention I look forward to playing with and meeting them while on my visit.

If you plan to meet the casino host once you've been to the casino you will want to make sure you've applied for and received your player's card so you can get your play rated for comps. There are a number of different ways to meet the host if you are already at the casino and playing. It will generally just depend on where you are playing. If you are playing the slots you can easily ask any employee that you'd like to speak to the casino host. If you are playing the tables you can just as easily tell the pit boss the same thing.

When you first meet the host, try to be friendly but honest. If you are looking for a comp for something specific you should ask what it takes to qualify to receive it or if they have one for what you want at all. Asking will let you know what you need to do to receive what you are looking for or if it is something completely out of your league. This makes things easier on you and it takes the business out of the situation. By asking, you are looking to be informed and are not let down if you do not qualify for a specific comp.

I know many people prefer to meet the casino host and befriend them before inquiring about the comps they are looking for. In all honesty, I have tried it both ways. I will generally ask to speak to a host if I am fond of a casino. If I know it's a trip I will not be making often then it’s highly unlikely I will attempt to become good friends with a casino host at a casino I do not frequent very often.
