Dallas/Fort Worth has beautiful weather, so it was made for outdoor activities. Though the summers are humid, it is not as extreme as Louisiana or even the Northeast, so Dallas living is pleasant. Residents of the Dallas area have a great love of sports, so you'll find a number of activities and organized clubs that focus on sports activities: golf, baseball, football, soccer and every other sport under the Texas sun.

Join an Outdoor Sports Club

If you are not sure where to go to have fun outdoors, and want to meet new people, an organized group devoted to outside activities is perfect for you. Get social while also getting a workout, a tan, and/or some knowledge about nature in the state you live in.

DFW Outdoors is just one popular social outdoors club. The group has been around for over six years, and weekly outdoor events range anywhere from skiing and canoeing to rock climbing and camping. If you are a beginner at such sports, that is not an issue, as this club asserts that it is for those of any skill level. The club also attends sporting events, concerts, and other social events, which is perfect for people who love to be outdoors but are not necessarily interested in being active each week. Remember that this is just one outdoors club in the Dallas/Fort Worth area; there are many others geared toward more specific activities, as well.

Lakes and Water Parks

When it comes to the ultimate in aquatic fun, Burger's Lake in Fort Worth simply can't be beat. With two sandy beaches and plenty of mature shade trees, water lovers of all ages can enjoy fun in the sun here. Plus, the full complement of certified lifeguards, more than 300 picnic tables and a multitude of charcoal grills combine to ensure local beach combers have a safe place to enjoy.

If you need more fun with your water, then explore the always exceptional Great Wolf Lodge. Found in Grapevine, Texas, this 80,000 square foot indoor water park is one of the most trendy of its kind in the Dallas Area. With six restaurants, overnight suites, an indoor wave pool, water slides, a six-story funnel and a host of other cool features, the Great Wolf Lodge makes sure that water lovers of all ages get showered in some good old aquatic fun.

From May 1 to July 31, you can check out "Cool Thursdays" at the Dallas Arboretum.
