Students who have studied the combination of Physics, Chemistry and Math Subjects at 10+2 level often wish to become an Engineer. Before opting for this line they must be aware of certain factors such as -their interest, potentialities, awareness, creativity, talent and in-depth Knowledge of Physics and Math subjects in particular. Engineering Sciences breaks up in to many branches. Employment options as an Engineer depends on the branch of study. Some of the branches are: Aeronautical, Agricultural, Ceramic, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical Power, Electronics, Engineering Physics, Information Technology/Science, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Mining. Naval, Textile etc. These courses are of 4 year duration. Students can look forward to an exciting and rewarding career in the fields of construction, design, management, manufacture, research or teaching.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at 7 Locations are among the best ranked Engineering Institutes in India. These institutes admit candidates through Joint Entrance Examinations on All-India basis with no domiciliary restrictions. The Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) administered jointly by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology and IT-BHU and ISM is held usually in 1st week of May at a large number of centers throughout India for admission to the Engineering courses only. Foreign nationals are not eligible to write JEE.

National Institute of Technology ( at 17 Locations) are the next choice for Engineering Aspirants. Admission to these Institutes are done through All India Engineering Entrance Examinations (AIEEE) and students are selected on basis of merit. The AIEEE Tests are also conducted in the month of May-June every year. There are many Engineering Institutes and Universities in India who admit students based on their AIEEE ranking.

Apart from the above, there are many Institutes/State Universities which conduct their own Engineering Entrance Examinations. Some of them are Birla Institute – BITSAT, Karnataka Common Entrance Test (Karnataka CET), Kerala CET, EAMCET, AICET, GCET, Punjab CET, W. Bengal JEE, Bihar CET, UP CEE , COMEDK.

So, if you Plan to be an Engineer in India, you need to appear in one of the above mentioned Engineering Entrance Exams. To get admitted in the Engineering Institute of your choice, you need a high ranking in the respective Entrance Examination and in order to compete with others your test preparation needs to be thorough.
