Dallas Community: The Learning Curve
Dallas has ten unique independent school districts that provide schools for elementary students, middle school students and high school students. The district’s goals include improving student academic achievements, nurturing both teachers and other district employees in order to provide the best learning environments for the students. The district will also provide good judgment on financial use so that the community will trust it to improve facilities and maintain a safe learning environment for the students.
The Dallas independent school district also provides specialized services and programs to meet the needs of its students that may require it. The specialized programs adjusts the learning process so that it fits the needs of students individually so that a student is not left behind because his or her abilities are not as strong academically as their peers. Support services are available to students and their families that help them to cope with personal needs. These services include evening classes for students that may need to work during the day, a 24-hour hotline for those individuals that have dropped out of school, and services for autistic children that may need a more structured learning environment when it comes to their learning and educational needs. There are even services and programs available to homeless and migrant children so that they can better themselves. The programs are available so that no student is discriminated against or left behind just because they are unable to keep up with their peers.
If you prefer to have your child(ren) in a private school setting, Dallas offers over 200 private schools. These schools cater to a wide variety of teaching styles, special needs and religious affiliations.
For the older students who are looking to continue their education at either a college or a university, there are a lot of choices available. Dallas offers over twenty different colleges and universities that range from community colleges to the Texas Women’s University and the Institute of Health and Science.
For the non-traditional student, there are many resources available for them to continue their education. These resources are available in the Dallas Public Library which offers GED/ESL classes and many other places such as the Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development, the Dallas Can!
Academy and the Southeastern Career Institute.
The educational opportunities that are available in the Dallas school system caters to the needs of its students from kindergarten all the way through college or university level learning. There are many programs and services that are available to support and help students of all learning levels and abilities. There are even many programs that help students with autism and other learning disabilities be able to integrate into the school system without being left behind because they aren’t at the level of their peers. Aside from teaching young students, there are many resources that are available to adults and dropouts who want to better themselves educationally by getting their GED/ESL or in order to get a better career.
