Most school systems in the early colonial days of America were schools founded on Classical Christian education. Most instructors were educated ministers with a background in literature, Protestant theology, and classical languages.

As a result, students studied the bible in its original Greek and Hebrew along with other classics in Greek.

Classical Christian education often produces students that are amazing leaders and thinkers. A rigorous and challenging education made this type of education a winning service.

Sadly, the current educational system in the nation has dishonored the value of this commodity. With the irrational and classless changes that the current system makes, academic degrees show nothing about a person's thinking abilities.

Other educational models of the past, such as Classical Christian education, have a foundation in working hard and acquiring book knowledge.

For the most part, the ability to analyze, reason, and look at things from other perspectives come from reading. Classical Christian education develops this scholarly skill so that students can understand and apply the Scriptures.

In Colonial America, there was so much more than just learning Christian teachings along with the doctrine and faith. It was just as much about understanding and classifying reality through the teachings and principles defined in the Bible. It was through the Holy Scriptures that colonials approached social theories, philosophy, and education.

Classical Christian education has existed in America since the early 1900s. The education was based not just on Christian principles and values, but high academic standards. The results were amazing.

How can we have some of the same results in our era? How can we teach in such a manner when the teachers of today aren't trained in teaching in the classical method? For starters, we need to start with what we have.

We can teach from the Bible. We can teach from centuries of classic texts. There are great works of literature, history, science, and theology that are translated into English.

Though Christian Classical education may seem outdated, it is designed to produce a student who has the mental control and capability to read a profound book and write interesting, analytical essays on what was read. More than anything it is designed to bring a student back to God.
