What Do You Do When God is Silent?

Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say on the Lord!
-Psalm 27:14
Do you ever get frustrated waiting for the things you want? We live in a fast-paced, "gotta have it now" kind of society. Sometimes, even Christians can get caught up in the hype, especially when they've been laying before the Lord with a prayer request that God seems not to have heard.
You know in your heart that God hears every petition you bring to Him. That does not mean, however, that God is going to give you an answer when you want it and how you want it every time. Sometimes, He's silent and the only thing you can do is prayerfully wait on Him.
God's silence doesn't mean that nothing is happening. Most often, He does His best work when He doesn't seem to be saying or doing anything. Think back over your life and the times He was silent. If your life is anything like mine, it was during those long times of silence that your relationship with the Lord really grew.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven." God answers every righteous prayer request and every petition you place before Him in the right season for you. No matter how right something seems to you, if it's not the right season, the Lord's silence means "WAIT!"
I'll be one of the first people to admit that waiting can be difficult. However, it does not begin to compare with what happens when you don't. If you attempt to move forward without waiting on the Lord's best for you, you can end up frustrated and out of God's will. Instead of rushing ahead, focus on growing your faith and your patience.
Remind yourself that God often does His best work in our lives when He's silent.
My Challenge to You:
Have you been praying about something and you haven't yet received an answer from God? He hears you and your answer will come. Wait on the Lord!

- Christian T-Shirts and Gifts: Express Your Beliefs - By: Ruth Lanham
One of the things that people like to express on t-shirts is their Christian beliefs. Christian t-shirts are a great way to display how you feel about your faith. The message on the shirt can be something as simple as "I believe" or different statements about Jesus or God. A Christian t-shirt can also have a scripture from the Bible that means something special to the person wearing it. - Living Like a Christian - By: Bethany Chastain
Like many other Christians in this tumultuous world, I am surrounded by apathy. It's been said, "It's easy to only focus on the bad. There is enough of it that it won't run out. But you don't have to go around looking for it." - The Calling of God - By: Mark Baker
Before the world was created God knew each one of us, and had preordained us to good works. Good works of course are the things He wants us to accomplish while we are here on the Earth. He has called us and equipped each of us to fulfill the things He has predestined for us. - Encouraging Words - By: Joyce Averils
Speak to others in a way that encourages and builds them up. Most people are more receptive to truth once they know that you care about them and love them. If we're going to be encouragers and if we want to speak life into the lives of others, then prayer before speaking is a must. - When Your Only Hope is a Miracle - By: Joyce Averils
As a believer, you can believe in miracles and expect them. The Lord may not work out the situation exactly how you want Him too, but He will miraculously work it out for your good. - The Excellent Woman - By: Joyce Averils
God is perfect; we're not. The quest for perfection is a never-ending quest that none of us will ever achieve. Instead, we should make a spirit of excellence our goal. - The Power of Patience - By: Mark Baker
Patience is a requirement to seeing our faith fulfilled. It is the enabler to our faith, the ability to hold on to our faith when all seems lost. It allows our faith to endure. In other words, we will not give up our faith in the face of whatever comes our way, no matter how long it takes. - Are You Living in the Past? - By: Joyce Averils
It's important to learn from your past but it's just as important not to live your life in the past. The ultimate artist, the Creator of the Universe, uses every fire you go through to mold and shape you into the beautiful woman of God He created you to be. No matter what the world says, growing older is a blessing and as women of God, we can do it gracefully. As I approach 50, I don't want to get caught up in how many gray hairs I have, how many wrinkles are on my face or how much cellulite is on my thighs. I want to keep my focus on things that matter in light of eternity. - What Do You Do When God is Silent? - By: Joyce Averils
