Goal Setting "STARTS" The Engine that Helps YOU Exceed Expectations

First, bring out the PEN AND PAPER system away from the computer, at least for a little while. It's hard to THINK while trying to type with ONE or two fingers. Just kidding! Some of us are UP to 3 fingers and at TOP speed we're running at 20 WPM.
Anyway, set aside 3 or 4 hours QUIET time. Be sure that NO ONE will disturb you. This is THINK TIME 101. All of us need to break-away from the hustle and bussle of the day for sorting out our GOALS to achieve. The first day of each month is a good time to review our successes and to do a GOALS REVIEW for the next 30 days, along with a glance at the next QUARTER and our YEARLY goals, too.
SHORT TERM Vs LONG TERM
Set short-term, incremental goals. Work up to larger and bigger plans over time. Never put yourself under pressure to achieve beyond a reasonable target. If you do then discouragement will set you UP for failure.
Remember the question, "how do you eat an elephant?" and the answer..... ONE bite at a time! (I know, who wants to eat the BIG E.........?)
Set incremental time frames. Short-range goals are your most important to begin then you can ADD the BIG ones later on down the road. Begin your first month and then grow with the program, adding a little more each month. Maybe you'll come up with something BRAND NEW..... I'd slowly add small bites at a time and build over several months.
As you know, millions of folks make NEW YEAR'S resolutions. All the things we're going to do. Lose weight! Take a cruise! Build a playhouse. Buy a new car. Begin aerobics. Spend more time with the children or grandkids, and the list continues.
Too big a goal goes UP and you know what happens. Nothing! Most of us throw in the towel rather than work slowly to the next plateau. Easier to quit than to work a little harder.
SMALL BITES
Achieve success in small bites. Step-by-step your confidence builds. If you fall down you can get back up. Miss the target and make the correction. Go again with renewed enthusiasm and determination.
Big “boys” enter strong man contests. Physical fitness is (should be) a major goal for everyone. Keep our bodies in good working order or it will begin to “break” down.
An old man, about 85 years old said, "If I'da known I'da live this long, I'da taken better care of the body." Don't let that happen to YOU, begin NOW working on YOU.
Our motivation can fall away in small bites, too. Don’t lose heart in what you are trying to accomplish. Set a daily time to be at the gym. Walk a mile in your neighborhood. Lift those weights “downstairs” or in the “recreation” room. Put a time-of-day down in your day- timer or calendar book.

ACTION TIP: Set reasonable and reachable goals for your personal life, for your business and for your employees. Don’t expect to reach the moon in a cub cadet. Begin at your level to set goals for the NOW. What you do today will have an impact on your tomorrow. Incremental steps will give incentive to achieve. Every achievement in business and the good life begins with the first step, then the second, on into eternity. __/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/
