Most sports psychologists will talk about the human psyche and scoring goals. Most all motivational speakers will talk about goal setting and achieving your goals. What is the difference between a goal in sports and a goal that you have written on a piece of paper that you would like to achieve in your life? The truth is there is not much difference at all. The only big difference would be that the goal you set in your life may have a much more long-term affect on your future earnings, happiness and fulfillment of your life experience.
When a team sets out to score a goal it has a specific plan and the team knows that it must overcome the opponent and be able to work together towards that goal and then execute the final play to score that goal. When a person sets out to accomplish a goal they break that goal down into strategic bite-size parts and they know that they must accomplish all the bite-size parts in order to get to the main goal.
In one example the team works its way down the field and the individual works their way across a timeline of strategic objectives through life. There really is not much difference between winning your goal and scoring a goal. Perhaps this is why so many people play sports and then go on to achieve great things in life. They obviously have the training in achieving their goals and perhaps the winning spirit, as well as the hard work ethic it takes to train, practice and win each game in order to get to the playoffs.
If you want to win in life and win your goals then you need to consider the philosophy behind the strategies and consider what it will take to achieve your strategic objectives on the way to your goal and perhaps it might be wise to look at sports philosophy and strategies and consider how you can apply the same methodologies to your life experience in order to win. Please consider all this in 2006.
