Stuck In Your Life? Work On It Instead!
“I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacations with better care than they plan their lives.” -- Jim Rohn
Are you stuck in your life? Here’s how you can tell:
When we only work IN our lives:
- We know what we have to do right now.
- We do things as we have always done them.
- Because we do things as we have always done them, we typically get the same results.
- Getting the same results reinforces and justifies our beliefs that that’s all that is possible for us.
When we only work IN our lives, the details of life may change but the essence or quality of our life does not. LIFE DOES US.
However, if we take time regularly to work ON our life:
- We connect with our ideals of what we want to be, do and have.
- We reflect on what’s working for us and what is not.
- We identify what we can do to change what’s not working and to move towards our goals.
When we regularly work ON our life, we claim our power and freedom to live life to the fullest. WE DO LIFE.
Are you ready to break out of the rut?
As often as possible, jump off of life’s treadmill. Take time (yes, you can do it if your life matters to you!) to be quiet, peaceful and still. Pamper yourself by connecting with your dreams. Imagine a bigger picture of your life. Resolve to take a first step, then a second step … to bring those dreams to fruition.
Here are some simple steps to turn your life around:
STOP and take a sanity break. Each week, take some time on your own to look at the bigger picture of your life. If possible, get out of your house and workplace and into new surroundings like a park, library or coffee shop. Write down your questions, insights and answers.
Ask yourself, “Why am I doing what I’m doing?” as often as you remember to do so. Know what your motives are.
Ask yourself new and different questions and write down your answers. For help with this, use our Personal Performance Process at: http://www.higherawareness.com/7ppp.shtml
Begin to train your mind to focus on what you want rather than on what you don’t want. Our thinking creates our reality, so make sure you’re thinking constructively!
Create an agreement with a support person or group to support you in making changes to reach your goals.
As we reconnect with what brings us joy and as we focus more often on a bigger picture, our lives begin to open up for us. This is the time of your life! Make it your own. Make it beautiful!
“Always have a plan, and believe in it. Nothing happens by accident.” -- Chuck Knox
