As promised this is the continuation of my last article “Focus: the Bull’s Eye of Your Success Target.”

The seven dimensions of Focus are: Intention, Attention, No Tension, Retention, Repetition, Contention and Extension.

Intention: This is what anchors the soul of all achievements. Intention is your aim or objective. It is the reason why you’re focusing on your goal in the first place. Yes, if you must have a dream, you must have a goal to achieve it. Intention must be the heartbeat of your energy concentration otherwise every other thing will fall apart. Intention is what engages the subconscious mind and forces it to go to work, triggering your procreative powers. Intention sets the stage for the goal that you’re programming for your life. Intention is what you have at the back burner of your mind. Where the mind goes, the man’s attention inevitably follows. If it is not in your mind, it is not in your future.

Attention: This is what captivates the mind and fixes it to the center stage of intention. Whatever grabs your attention grabs your heart and your life. This is where your alertness and dominant mindset is fixed. It seems that most people have the adult version of ADD (attention deficit disorder) and don't even know it because it is unconscious. Attention is the key phenomenon in consciousness. It is better to be aware than to be smart. This is what occupies your life at a point in time. Your full attention tends to require all your senses. In fact, life is all about consciousness.

No Tension: This speaks of relaxation, solitude and serenity. If you must do meditation and imagery work, you must learn how to relax your muscles and cultivate a peace of mind. A restless body is due to a restless mind. When you calm the body, the mind is at ease, ready to do imagery work, meditation and affirmation of your set goals. Learning is best done in a relaxed and enthused atmosphere. Yes, lack of tension helps retention.

Retention: The picture must take in your deeper mind. Without memory bank or retention, your goals are easily forgotten or tossed aside for more pressing needs. Most of our problem is that we sacrifice the important for the urgent. You must set priorities and boundaries otherwise the mind will free-wheel. Remember, a rolling stone gathers no moss. If there is no retention, there is no recall. You must marinate you spirit-nature with the goal(s) you’re programming for your life. If is not stored in your spiritual hard-drive, it is not in your future drive. Retention is always reinforced by programming the goals repeatedly through reflection.

Repetition: This is reflection on you goals. For instance if you're are programming financial success, you must keep your prosperity Scriptures in your mouth and before your eyes. When you repeat, you emphasize. You are telling the RAS (Reticular Activating System) that your goal is very important. (The RAS is the trigger point for the law of attraction in the brain.) When you repeat, you reinforce and when you reinforce, you enforce. Repetition is the mother of all inventions, learning and performance. Without repetition, there is no retention and subsequent recall. Avoid the temptation or distraction of doing something else that doesn't help your main goal. When you stop repetition, you abort the dream. One time programming is not going to cut it. This is the difference between the successful and the struggling; between the rich and the rest. Successful people do one thing a hundred times. Unsuccessful people do one hundred things at the same time. That is what creates unnecessary stress and distress.

Contention: don’t let anybody kid you! Maintaining concentration is a psycho-spiritual warfare. The dominant parts of the brain tend compete to instead of complement one another. Success is a battle of the mind. It comes down to the intuitive and carefree right brain fighting to dominate the left, serious-minded, intellectual left brain. Whichever wins the battle of the mind controls your will. Herein lies the difference between men—it’s not their desire or dream that separates them; the difference is in their decisions. Decisions translate into success or failure in the real world.

Extension: This is the end result of mind game projected to the outside world. The life of your business is the extension of the business of your life. Success is nothing but series of small decisions that adds up. If you take it backwards, it all started with the battle for the mind. This is why the most important aspect of success is your mindset (it can be an asset or a liability). Your score card of the inner game (battle for the mind) is what comes out as visible success which the untrained eye sees. This is why and how Focus is the bedrock or entry point of your success target.

What happens when we focus?

When you focus, you set the law of attraction in motion. The law of attraction is a misnomer for the law of magnet. This is the unseen electromagnetic energy that controls human destiny. In fact, learning to focus is another term for centering and thought-intensification. This is vital because electromagnetic energy is ten times more efficacious than that of an ordinary magnet. And because our lives moves in pictures in the direction of our most dominant thought, this sets up the law of correspondence and reciprocity. You begin to attract people, resources, and circumstances that will help you accomplish your dream project. Unfortunately, the law of magnet can also work against you if you’re focusing on the things you don't want. "The problem is that we keep on focusing on the problem," said Kenneth E. Hagin.

Based on the law of energy, this is how coincidences, luck and serendipity happen. Higher energy always wins. Because you’re focused, extra energy is available for procreativity, provision, protection and prosperity. That’s how people become celebrities because people come unwittingly to celebrate that light. You now have charisma and personal magnetism. Success now becomes what you achieve by becoming an attractive person and not what you chase. This is because you took time to work on your personal power, goal-direction and fulfillment. This is the power of focus.
