The internet is a great place to shop. Come one, even those of you who like shopping at the mall have to admit that you can't beat the internet for selection or price!

It pays, though, to learn a little bit about how to shop smart online. If you follow the tips in this article, you'll be able to get better deals online, plus you'll be less likely to get burned. Follow these tips, and see how much money and time you can save by shopping on the internet!

Tip 1 – Find unbiased customer reviews. Once you've chosen a product you think you want to buy, find user reviews on the product. Try Yahoo Shopping, Amazon, or most any large online retailer to find customer ratings and reviews. They can be invaluable in helping you choose the best product.

Tip 2 – Use comparison shopping sites. Comparison shopping sites are amazing tools for finding the best deals on a product. Just search for the product you want, enter your zip code, and you'll get a list of retailers, complete with prices including shipping! Of course, you may not want to choose the cheapest retailer. Read the reviews on the retailer to see if other customers are happy with them.

Tip 3 – Check out the company policies. When you're ready to order from a company, check out their policies. The important ones you should be extra sure to check are their shipping policy, returns policy, and backorder policy.

Tip 4 – Check for contact info. Before you order from a company, check to see if they offer good support. Do they offer phone support is you have questions or concerns with your order? How quickly do they say they will respond to emails? Few things are more frustrating than a customer service department that is impossible to reach!
