When abroad in turkey it is possible to change money in banks and post offices. Banks are generally open from around 08.30 to 17.00 hours and the post office, or PTT as it is in Turkey is generally open 0830 am to 12 noon. Main banks and PTTs tend to change travellers cheques and most have ATMs. Most businesses, including shops and restaurants tent to prefer cash but major credit cards are often accepted in most. The currency is Turkish Lira.
Now that you’ve got all your holiday spends sorted out, you should know a few things for when you get there.
The Turkish sun is very hot. It is advisable to wear a high factor sun screen to protect yourself anf your family from the harmful rays. You should also protect yourself from mosquitoes in the evening time. If you are affected by these take a trip to the chemist or eczane as it is known locally.
The water in the town of Dalyan, turkey is safe to drink; although consuming around 2 litres pay day may lead you with an upset stomach due to the high mineral content in it so buying bottled water should do you.
As with all beach holidays it is essential not just to stay safe and have fun in the sun but also take care with the sea. There should be clearly designated swim zones within the Turkish holiday resorts. You should stay within your depth of height and always supervise children even if you know they can swim, as there are strong currents in some bays, adults should never swim if under the influence of alcohol.
You should aim to get a holiday villa with a pool within relative distance to the sea. This keeps all family members happy whether they prefer the beach or the pool, whilst if something goes wrong at the beach, like you lose your sun cream or the weather turns too hot or too cool you are in easy distance of your villa where you can retreat for the day or pick up essentials. This means you can also save during the day by popping back to your villa for meals and cold drinks.
