Your first heartbreak can make you an emotional wreck if you don’t know how to deal with the after effects. There have been more poems, songs, advice columns and novels written about the hardships of breaking up and heartaches, than you can possibly imagine. Sometimes, heartbreaks have a tendency to cause the hormones to overact and push us to doing some of the most outrageous things, like “keying” someone’s car. Bitterness can consume your rationale, if you don’t think before you react.

Writing always seemed to be a way of dealing with the pain and agony of heartbreak. Regardless of whose fault it was, the pain can be excruciating. There is no instant remedy for mending a broken heart and getting involved immediately after a breakup is not a wise decision.

Occasionally, when people read your story or hear your words sung in a song about rising above personal heartbreak, they can relate to the pain and applaud your efforts to move forward. Here are some suggested, eye-catching topics that you can write about to help you, along with your audience, release those past hurts and embrace a bright future:

2. Why “Payback” Is Not A Very Good Idea

3. Take Time To Heal Before Jumping Into Another Relationship

4. 7 Reasons Why The Thought Of Suicide Is Never A Wise Option

5. Entrapment Will Always Backfire On You! (pretending you’re pregnant or dying from some strange illness to gain sympathy is destructive thinking)

If you’re wondering about the different markets to submit to, consider these:

• Family digests or newsletters

• Women’s magazines

• Teen magazines

• Men’s magazines

• Poetry markets

• Poetry contests

• Romance novels

• Online Ezines

• Psychology magazines

• Global relationship markets

Regardless of your age, gender, race, creed or social status, a broken heart is a universal emotion that takes time to heal. You may hear heartbreak referred to as “singing the blues,” but overcoming it is a monumental feat. Your first heartbreak may be challenging, but if and when it happens again, you will have the experience to deal with it more expeditiously. Sometimes after the initial shock, your pain could turn into anger. Don’t give the other person the satisfaction of stooping to an unethical level. Writing about a broken heart can be therapeutic for you, as well as your readers. When you are able to relate to the masses and offer positive solutions through a poem, essay or advice column, you might receive a round of applause from an endearing audience needing that nudge to “let go” and “get going.”
