Being a private investigator is a fun and invigorating avocation. Find out about the career opportunities that private investigation offers.Read more…Beware Of The Counteroffer!
A counteroffer is a ruthless and potentially hazardous renegotiation of your salary with your current employer, which occurs when you threaten to leave for employment with a competitor. Although the counteroffer is almost always a lose- lose proposition for the job seeking candidate and the employer, we see candidates entertain the notion all the time.Read more…The Counteroffer Strikes Back!
So you are thinking about accepting the counteroffer even though I said it was bad? You ask what could be so bad about getting an increase in salary or a big new promotion with your present employer versus making a change to leave them and go with a competitor? It does sound tempting, but life is perfect only in hindsight and on The Girls Next Door if you happen to be Hugh Hefner. Read more…Why Should We Hire You?
Sometimes this is the last question of a phone screen or a face-to-face interview. Regardless of when it occurs, and believe me it will, you should be ready to rock and roll with your answer! A great candidate like you should be more than ready to absolutely kill this question with your fluid communication and self-marketing skills. By preparing for this question and relaxing in the interview you will slay this hiring manager dragon. Read more…The Katrina Effect
First off let me say how much compassion I have for all the participants of the devastating Hurricane Katrina. I don’t like the word victim because that implies a guilty party inflicting harm on another and whom can you blame in this case? Certainly not W or do the “evil republicans” have a hidden weather machine targeting minorities? As a restaurant management recruiter in Atlanta, I have seen first hand how this disaster has left its mark on the citizens of the region. There are 2 types of candidates that I have tried to help in the last year and a half: the “Why Me” and the “Survivor”. Read more…Divas and McDonalds
Why do people have such a low level of respect for quick serve team members? This continues to fascinate and disgust me at the same time. Like a redneck’s tan line I cannot look away! Seriously though, why do people who frequent the fast food places hate the people who work there? The quick serve or fast food industry is a multi-billion dollar generator of income, cash flow and more importantly opportunity for all of the people. Not just the people who had enough money to go to college and get “real jobs” that people love hearing about. The average person does not understand the fast food effect on the economy, but even some white-collar people got their start there. Of course they will never admit to it at a golf outing or in public. It is their scarlet letter of shame shaped like two arches on their chest. Read more…I Can Help Everyone In The World!
As a restaurant management recruiter, I help a lot of people find new and exciting careers in the food service industry. Most of us are taught from day one as children that lying is BAD! This is probably not a new revelation to you and I believe that the moral majority is not deceitful most of the time. Sure there are occasions where we lie for seemingly “good” reasons, but I know that is a load of crap! This behavior actually kills people.Read more…Great Waiters are Not Born -- They're Made (Part One)

I have a friend named Owen, who I recently worked with to find him a new career in the restaurant industry. I am a restaurant management recruiter, but more importantly, a career coach and a developer of interviewing talent. I worked with him in my past life as a restaurant manager, so I knew what his accomplishments and strengths were and how he could improve a team. I also knew that he was going to be one of the most challenging candidates I would ever work with!Read more…Don't Be An Interview Idiot!
